I didn't know how to find the median for a group of consecutive integers, but I was aware of the median for a group of ppl. This made it even easier to visualize! A group of ppl is just a group of consecutive integers that starts at 1!. Lowest + highest / 2... (1+n)/2

Great video and I just want to add a comment in passing - in case anyone is like me, and constantly gets the median and the mode mixed up ... I have found a way to remember it now. I simply think of road medians, which are found in the middle of two lanes and have like a tuft of grass or signage, etc. Ok... That third word problem you did. Those are the tricky ones....When there is an associate graph or chart or table... those are tough. Thanks!

Hi Phillip, For the Medianth: when its not pertaining to salaries but only to an even number of people; then which person do you choose? ie. 4 people. 4+1 = 5 5/2 = 2.5. Do I choose the 2nd or the 3rd person? (this is an easy example for illustration, I understand the middle person of 5 is clearly #3)! Thank you for your help!

MEDIAN = middle element Case 1(odd number of elements): median = [p+1]th term : where n = 2p+1 Case 2(even number of elements): median = ([p]th term + [p+1] term) / 2 : where n = 2p For example 25 = 2*12+1 ==> median = 12+1 = 13th term (case 1)

Hey man My GRE is in 2 days. I wanted to thank you again for all the well thought out videos. Here's some suggestions for you - I think you should "upgrade" your thumbnails to more interesting ones. Like you could add your photo as if you're confused about a core question like "is Mean=median?" But keep the titles same. Or better yet, make a chronologically ordererd playlist for them. like Week 1 Lec 1: Divisibility Week 1 Lec 2: Factorization

i think "consecutive list" must be replaced with "equally spaced numbers " mean = median 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 d= 1 1.5 , 2.5 , 3.5 , 4.5 d= 1 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 d= 2 2.5 , 4.5 , 6.5 , 8.5 d= 2
@cardiyansane14143 жыл бұрын
Consecutive is defined as "following one another in uninterrupted succession" i think what you are referring to the 'equally spaced numbers' would be synonymous to consecutive because i can predict if the numbers are e.g 2,4,6,8...i know the next will be 10..the are in succession and uninterrupted .....great thought process tho
