Nate, omg!! This is so gorgeous!! That color combo is perfect and those clouds!!!! Just beautiful! The bubbles don't ruin this piece at all! And warping doesn't either! Resin that beauty! Can't wait for the next one!! Have a great weekend!! 🥰

Almost? No this is heaven! Perfect pour, perfect music this was a very enjoyable video thank you! I believe the bubbles are from the bamboo, wood breaths so I think your right, 3 coats of gesso or even polycrylic will definitely seal your board!

You are absolutely correct Friedo! I think I've got the technique down, and now I've learned what I need to do to be able to paint on these bamboo panels. Hopefully the next one dries better! : )

Still turned put beautifully! I've learned w bamboo and pine that using an oil "primer" works great I stead of a water based one. I use killz.

Gorgeous cloud pour,Nate,it looks very pretty in wet stage,but you can save it with a resin coat or liquid glass coat,they will surely make the color pop up 💙💙
@bakermodernart11 ай бұрын
Gorgeous! I find with any sort of wood that sealing, not just priming, the wood is really important. Gesso is a great primer but not a good sealer. You can use shellac or most acrylic based mediums, like GAC 100, will work. After sealing, then gesso before painting. It's also a really good idea to seal both sides, especially with the humidity you have there. This will help prevent future warping. If one side of the wood is open to elements and the other side sealed warping can still happen at a later time.

Thanks Taneva! I'm going to PM you before I give this a try again. I've worked on wood before and never had this issue. I think you could tell from my voice I was a little heartbroken. Definitely don't want that to happen again! XOXO

@@NateBrightArt hit me up any time love! I learned the hard way too!! Adding this here though so that anyone reading will get a little more info. Anytime you have edge glued wood like bamboo or those common pine round you will have higher susceptibility to warping than a solid piece of wood. Also, the thinner of the wood, the more susceptible it is to warping. That's why birch panels are "cradled" to stop warping.

So, Mr B I have taken your advice to heart and on Monday mixed some paint. Today tried being fearless (or more likely foolhardy) and braved unheated garage to do pour as temperature had risen slightly. No t-shirt for me but several warm layers. Now going to watch your pour.
@NateBrightArt11 ай бұрын
Hi Josi! That's awesome! How did it go? I hope you had fun and learned something!
@JosiWeaver-re5wt11 ай бұрын
Didn’t really go to plan. I tried straight pour using six colours but the magenta killed everything else and the white base coat (which was left over satin emulsion with some Liquitex iridescent pouring medium mixed in) created a strange snowy effect on part of painting. Also think paint consistency was too thin and I poured off too much. I should have strained base paint as I spent ages picking out bits of gunk! One for a repour I think. Onwards and upwards. Report would read ‘could do better’.

Thanks so much! The pearl pigments have a lovely glow in person, but on camera it's very reflective so it's hard to film. Someday soon I'll be able to upgrade my lighting so I can show these better. Thanks again!

Yes - lesson learned! But the good news is that once it cured, I put it on a flat surface and weighed it down with some heavy tiles and it flattened right back out. Whew!

Nate, the painting was amazing, the canvas was just not. Do it again on like a Covexo.

Ignoring all technical problems...this painting can not, in my opinion, stand alone. It has many positive features but is yet to be completed. Give it companions for the wall.
