@@Riley_Mundt Blades wont make your balls go offline more. They have less of a "hot" face, meaning that the energy tranfer between swing speed and ball speed is less than on chunky "game improvement" irons. There is essentially less tramboline effect. Just made the transition from blades to cavities. Blades were 20 years old, my dad had used them in highschool, now ive got newer irons and added on almost 20 to 40 yards worth of distance just based on club head weight alone. Definitely enjoy the blades more then the cavities, but i cant argue with better results, scorewise.
@TheWedgeWizard Жыл бұрын
More likely they’re stronger lofted and/or longer shafted. So many new club are basically a full club stronger so what’s usually considered an 8iron would read 9 on the bottom and so on. That’s why so many people need a 50° wedge these days, they’re making 44° “pitching wedges” when 44° was always a 9-iron and pw was around 48°-49°. Add a little longer shafts to the mix and they go way further. All things equal besides cavity vs muscle back, there’s really not a very big difference.

Don't fear the blades. Here's the a long story about how I started using blades when I was a 27 handicap. I found a whole set of Nike slingshot irons for $1 per club in a thrift store that were almost brand new. I sold them for $100 easy. That got me looking for similar deals. I found a lady selling 3 sets of clubs for $125. From the pictures I noticed one set of callaways that were easily worth $200. I couldn't believe it. I showed up and sure enough she had a set of Ping G2s, and two sets of Callaways. One set was game improvement clubs that were huge and fat like the ones I played with, and the other set was a set of old Callaway blades. They look smaller than the ones in this video. I felt bad because it was obvious this lady did not know what she had. I'm too honest to take advantage her, so I told her you've got one set here worth at least $200 and I'm not sure on the Pings, but they could be worth over $400 used. I can't give you $125. She insisted, and when I later thought about the face she had when I paid her, I realized she was probably going through a divorce and some poor guy lost all his clubs and she couldn't wait to tell him it was for only $125. Anyways, I thought for sure I would play with the huge cavity back callaways and sell the Ping G2s and the tiny Callaway blades. I'm a 27 handicap after all. but I took all three sets to the range, and you know what, I hit those blades perfect every time. I was shaping shots for the first time ever the first time I used blades. I realized that day that game improvement irons probably help a lot of people, but they were actually hurting me somehow. The smaller target of the blades made me more consistent right away. Also, the sound and feel of a well struck ball on a blade is indescribable. I love it. I ended up selling the other two sets and started playing with the blades. I dropped 10 points off my handicap that year, and started breaking 90 for the first time ever. I got some new grips put on my blades when my handicap was around 17 and the guy doing the work asked me what my handicap was. He said, you must struggle to hit these blades then, huh? I then told him the story I just told you, but he would not believe me. However, trust me, you won't go back once you try some blades. Don't fear them.

The extra challenge spoiled a decent review of the irons. Disappointed

He already did a review of these clubs when they first came out
@neilpersen3 жыл бұрын
@@vincentbellomo8431 there's a difference between hitting on a simulator than on a course. In that review, he had it in his head from the beginning the clubs were terrible and he couldn't hit them so of course that's how it was going to play out -- on the course though it was a different story

Rick doesn’t evens shank these clubs Me shanks it with my forgiving irons

What does it say about the irons that after 33 iterations with the person they are designed for/with doesn't have them in the bag? Is it just a novelty of owning the most difficult clubs to hit?
@joe60023 жыл бұрын
@@mikemueller8807 I thought rick had said earlier in the video they're very good clubs if you can get the hang of it. I'm think it's one of those things where if you master it it's a huge advantage but until then you really have to embrace the suck.

Great giggle and very good fun. I'd play a few rounds of golf with you Rick. Most enjoyable.

I'm not trying to be cheeky, I've only been watching you for a few weeks now, and it seems obvious to me that if you dedicated a solid few months towering on your puts, you'd be taking at least 2-3 strokes off each round, easy. Please make a series dedicated to improving your putting game, and let your pro friends in on it! Would be VERY fun to watch.
