I also really like Stephen West's designs because they are outstanding and unmistakable. Your sweater looks really nice, by the way! I think it's nice when there are "boring" and unexciting days and weeks... I personally need these times to calm down and have time for myself. I would recommend reading the thrillers by Simon Beckett, I really liked them!

Thank you! I love Stephen West’s sweaters, there’s something super comfortable about the shape. I do agree with the boring days, it is nice to have some quiet time. I will definitely check out that author, I love thrillers 🙂

I love your painting bricks sweater! I love your idea of changing colors on the "mortar" instead of the bricks

Hello Mandy, I became aware of your podcast through another Austrian podcast Dunkelbunt Creations (Ep.07 Min.14:59) and am now looking forward to being able to watch all of your episodes from the beginning. I love your projects, the way you present them, and especially your extremely bold choice of color, pink - yeah!!! 😍😍 Kind regards from southern Germany, Sabine

Hi Sabine, it’s nice to meet you! I’m happy that you’re here 🙂. Pink is my favorite and I love bright and vibrant colors. I do some knit neutral colors, but bold is where my heart is 😍. Thank you so much for all of your kind words.

Go Mandy, go! Cast on all the bright neon colors with white (or black😉)! Fun video seeing all of your knits and the patterns. Hope your son had a good tournament. What kind of tournament was it?

I am looking forward to my next cast ons and lots of bright colors! Thank you, Beth. He had a great tournament. He’s in Karate and has been since 1st grade. Kids grow up too fast! 🙂

Thank you, I appreciate your suggestion 🙂. There are quite a few of the Aurora Cabin sweaters that carry the design all the way down. All of the projects on Ravelry look beautiful 😍

Thank you for coming! 🙂 I love Stephen West’s sweater patterns, he has some great ones. You can really customize the palette to be more toned down or use as many different colors/yarns as you’d like. I am super excited to start my big color work project, I am almost ready! 🙂

The WestKnits MKAL shawls look almost like blankets to me. I love that he has released official blanket versions of so many shawls. I made the Starflanket last year and would love to knit another of his blanket patterns in the future.

I have his Slipstravaganza blanket pattern and yarn that I could use for it. I have loved the look of that shawl since I saw it and was so excited that it came out. One day I’m going to sit down and make it, it really is beautiful 🙂

Thank you for the shoutout! I just cast on the Flax for Atticus and once I have a good bit of it done, I'm thinking of casting on that brioche shawl I mentioned to you. That's a Wool & Pine pattern as well and has a bunch of video tutorials as well. That might turn into another 3-year project.... I hope your son had a good tournament (what was he competing in???) and that you are having a good week!

He was competing in karate and had a great time. He’s been in it for ages now 🙂. I love the idea of a full brioche project but I have been too chicken. I have all the yarn ready and wound for a brioche hug and.. it’s been waiting for years 😂. I can’t wait to see your flax, the yarn you picked is going to make a great sweater 🙂. I hope you guys have a great week!

I love what you did with the fade on the Painting Bricks. I have a similar stitch pattern swatched up for some of my advent skeins I bought last year, but I want to make a top down, drop shoulder that binds off some underarm stitches when it splits for sleeves (like the top down version of some of Andrea Mowry's designs. It allows for a deeper drop on the sleeve without as wide of a body). But as far as I can tell, there's no patterns for that, so I'll be making the base design too, not just the stitch pattern.

This sounds like a pretty idea. I love the idea of being able to have a deeper drop without needing as wide of a body. I am a huge fan of using mini skeins and I have been trying to think of different ways to use mine. It seems like every time I decide on a pattern for them, something else grabs my attention first 🙂

@@mandyvaughnknits I'm the same way, especially if its a set. I have a set of tweed minis from last year that I keep hoarding because they're so pretty, but I have no idea what I plan to make with them. And then I have another tweed mini set from a different dyer that are a different color story, and I'm unsure if I should mix them in with the first set, or do a separate project with them. I put too much pressure on the decision lol.

I always use stitch markers wherever I think I can make an error. That has not kept me from making a mistake but I catch them very quickly.😂

That’s my favorite part about using stitch markers, I get to catch my mistakes a lot quicker 🙂
