Good stuff as always my friend. Dealing with Oklahoma's bi-polar weather is always a challenge. About the time you shave the beard, she hits you with another round of the negateen temps. The struggle is real, but she'll be scorching us before you know it.

This might be a dumb question but I’m a newbie here, where do you dispose of the bagged clippings; do the regular trash collector grab it or is there special group that picks it up. Thanks
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
Depends on your city. My old city picked up the bags along with the regular trash day. My new town will only take what you can fit in your trash bin. I will be taking mine to a compost pile nearby. If your city has a garden waste facility, you can take them there. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

@blakecheboygan Жыл бұрын
I’m lucky the town I live in will take anything at the curb weekly. I have also used the clippings in a fire pit in the past. If you want to get real old school southern you can burn the brown off your lawn and fertilize it with all that carbon. Obvious dangers and city codes apply to that tho.

I wonder whether you have any advice about controlling the power annua that has taken over my Bermuda lawn this spring. I used Image and some preemergent but to no avail. Probably I should apply the preemerg early and in the last fall. Thanks.
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
To control the poa in spring, you really have to get down a fall pre emergent. I apply one in September and then again in January. Have had success thus far with that. What does break though will get scorched in the summer heat. Appreciate ya!

supposed to get lots of rain this week here in nw ark..... so with my bermuda showing some "waking up" I was thinking about throwing some granules down tomorrow to have the rain soak it in,,, (10-10-10 fertilizer),,,, what ya think? yea or nay?
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the rain will be nice. It’s not greened up enough for my liking. I usually wait until the first or second week of May, depending on the weather each year. Looks like this year will need some more green up. I like it to be a bit warmer too. Going to be an awfully cool week.

Great Video! When do you recommend adding more seed to thinker up the lawn in this process? I have a mixture of Bermuda and Fescue. It was like that when I bought the house. I am thinking of thatching it in the spring and throwing seeds on there to get one particular type to grow over the other. I haven't decided which way to go yet. I am in Southern Cali

PS you got a new subscriber here 👍
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Much appreciated. If you choose bermuda, you don't need to apply any more seed. It will spread on its own. Lower, frequent mowing will help slow/stunt the fescue and let the bermuda start to take over. Choosing fescue will be a challenge. Once bermuda is in fescue, it's almost a losing battle. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Glad to have ya here on the channel.

Good morning. Is it OK to scalp the grass and apply the weed control right after even though no rain is in sight?
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
If there’s no rain, you’ll want to try and water it in as soon as possible. The first 48 hours is ideal. Hope this helps. Appreciate you watching and the question.

Hey, good video and info. Do you scalp to dirt? Also, what mower do you use and what are your recommendations for a good gas or battery mower for Bermuda for someone on a budget? Thanks!
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
Thank you. If I'm going with the rotary, it won't go low enough to hit dirt in most spots. With the Cal Trimmer, I'll go as low as I can without hitting dirt. I have a Troybilt TB130 from Lowe's. 10 years old and still works great. Hard to beat for a budget push mower. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya.

@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
That’s a lot of space. The granulars at the big box store will cost a fortune for that. You’re prolly gonna wanna look at a prodiamine liquid product in a jug. May cost a bit upfront but you’ll be able to stretch it longer for such a large space. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya.

Have you heard the "forsythia " rule regarding pre-emergent? Old man told me few years back that when you see the yellow forsythia start turning green that's when to do your pre-emergent. Don't know if that's good advice or not who knows.>ha

@@BudgetLawns I got lucky this spring because I really needed to seed my lawn and fortunately for me I sprayed everything with tenacity in the fall, so right now I'm having lots of luck filling in all the bare spots and I was wondering if it would be OK for me to spread a pre-emergent after I get this grown in within the next couple of weeks, even though it's June here in nyc?
@BudgetLawns7 ай бұрын
@JoeBilello1969 my preference is to not use pre emergent on a new lawn in the first year. Some people are okay with it. I’m cool being patient and letting the lawn do its thing. Keep up the good work. Thanks for watching.
@JoeBilello19697 ай бұрын
@@BudgetLawns .......but won't it get taken over by weeds?? I mean the tenacity I sprayed has to be wearing off by now, I'm starting to see things like the nutsedge I just used sedgehammer on. If this gets eaten up by weeds all of my work, time and money would all be for nothing, no?

Hi there! I have bermuda grass and temperatures right now are between 55 and 95°F i just put down my Scotts Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer today and i wonder how many days i have to wait to fertilize my lawn with the 10-10-10 all purpose fertilizer. By the way, I also did one aplication of SPECTRACIDE WEED STOP FOR LAWNS CONCENTRATE2 READY-TO-SPRAY (the yellow one) 4 weeks ago then waited 2 weeks and did the second application. This second application was 5 days ago
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
I won't put any fertilizer down until the bermuda is mostly greened up. That's usually well after my pre emergent application so they don't affect each other. As long as you're mostly greened up, you should be able to apply whenever. You could have done it on the same day and watered both in at the same time. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. And I understand. I wish I could make all my videos 3 minutes. It would save me a lot of time and work too. Creators play a game of trying to please KZbin and viewers. Unfortunately, they want 2 different things. KZbin wants minutes for advertisers. Viewers want just the tips in short videos. Hope this makes sense. It's just a game we have to play to get help from KZbin so people actually see our videos. If they can't make money from advertising off our videos, then our content means nothing to them. That's why it's so important for subs to like, comment and share. It tells the algorithm that people care and they will spread it. Thanks again!
