I did the pre emergent back at the end of Sept. and the lawn is relatively weed free…minus a few dandelions. I’m about to do the January application and my question is that the bag says to apply when temps are above 45. Day time temps are barely going to get there and the lows are going to be in the upper teens and low 20s. Will this still be affective with the temps so low?? Thank you. I really enjoy your videos
@BudgetLawns12 сағат бұрын
Temp only matters for the post emergent side of the product not for pre emergent. Thanks so much.

I know this is old video. Do yiu think there is a significant savings DIY vs a company for fertilizing/pre-emerge?
@BudgetLawns18 сағат бұрын
IMO it really comes down to the value you put on your time and whether or not you enjoy doing it yourself. If you're short on time, I'd say it's worth having a company do it if you can find the right one. I really enjoy doing it, so spending the time is worth it for me. In one department or the other (time vs. money) we're going to save some and spend the other. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching.

@@BudgetLawnsthank you. Definitely have the time. My Lawn Spray company seems to come out 6-7x’s a year and honestly i feel like I should have a better looking lawn than I am getting. I cut regularly and water appropriately. Perhaps trying myself could yield better results and less $$!

Is it better to mow Bermuda short like 1 inch or less, or leave it higher? Some say low and some say high. Also how do I get rid of poa? Love your videos. Thanks for your help.
@BudgetLawnsКүн бұрын
Thanks. Glad you enjoy them. Bermuda prefers to be mowed low. An inch or under, but that means more mowing. I keep mine around 1-1.5. I’ve kept it long before and that looked great too but it just has a different look. The key to getting rid of poa is a pre emergent in the fall. Hope this helps.

I hardly water and only mow twice a week. I’m not the obsessed lawn guy like most others on KZbin. I do the basics and that’s it. Too many people following the useless gimmicks these days.

Central Texas here. My zoysia is still green and it's now a few days after Christmas. Bought a verticutter woth a large discount and looking forward to the April scalp and verticut. The lawn needs to be thinned out as it really took off last summer since i added biostims.

Thanks for the great video. Question about the water activation of the pre-emergent application. How long can it sit on the grass before needing to be watered? Also, if not timing with rain could using a garden hose and nozzle work opposed to a sprinkler? Or is a sprinkler necessary?
@BudgetLawns7 күн бұрын
Appreciate it. I try not to let it sit out on the grass for more than 24 hours. The sooner you can water it in the better. Sure, you could use a hose and nozzle if you want. I prefer a sprinkler as it provides more even coverage. If watering by hand you have to be careful not to apply too much in one spot and causing the water to run the product off. Thanks for watching.

i find there's really no reason to do it in the fall because the cold weather keeps the weeds away all winter on it's own. i may get a few weeds in the early fall but it's not really enough to worry about as the grass is still growing to keep them at bay then once the weather goes cold the grass and weeds stop growing and don't really start back until feb or march. i think mid feb is the best time to put down pre emergent as temps start to rise above 50F regularly. that seems to be the key for me. as long as the nights are cold (40s or lower) the weeds don't grow. might hit it a 2nd round in april or may to last through the summer months. main thing is to keep the weeds down until the grass can start growing and then the grass will keep them away through the late spring/summer/early fall. i have st augustine grass though not bermuda. it starts growing when temps are 65-70f where as bermuda doesn't really start until 75-80f.

Great feedback. Thanks. Where I'm at in the transition zone, the fall application is important for controlling poa annua. It's a bluegrass weed that can get out of control and seeds like crazy if you don't prevent it with a fall pre-emergent.

Great informative video. You’re easy to understand and you explain everything in a simple and layman’s verbiage. The ear protection is a great information source, as chances are, you will have hearing problems of some type when you get older, whether it’s tinnitus or less clear hearing ability or diminished hearing. A huge thank you 😊

The fire can get out of control??!! So can a candle if you DARE light one inside your house. However, if you know how fire behaves you can master it. Not for children. But an intelligent adult human being has evolved to be the master of fire. Fire is powerfully useful and inherently fun to work with. The fire circle or hearth used to be the center of human activity. Even Frankenstein learned FIRE GOOD!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYKxaa16opadb80 I demonstrate it in the video above. I prefer a drag mat over a rake, so I don't use it unless it's a tight space. You're late to the party anyway. The lawn leveling rake market has dramatically changed since this was made close to 5 years ago. Much more affordable options now.

Live in Florida now but I was in Canada for 10 yrs and sodded my lawn. Same process as in Florida. Lay the sod, water everyday for the first month then normal practice after. I also seeded another section of the same lawn. It’s funny back then I didn’t really know what I was doing but whatever I used to do worked. In Florida, NO CHANCE you accidentally do the right things here lol!!! You have to absolutely know what you’re doing here to have any success and every year is a new year, lol!
