@@HisWordisLife4U There's no structural support in bricks stacked like that. If the soil is prone to moving a lot it will out pressure the water and collapse the walls inward. If the soil is soft and prone to water logging then the water will out pressure the soil and collapse it outward. The only thing that could be done to try and avoid that is to backfill with gravel as a buffer between the soil and the wall but at 31:48 you can clearly see she is backfilling with fill dirt. Don't get fooled into thinking this channel is real, it's all fake for youtube clicks.

What I like about this channel is that she doesn't try to fake the process, how 90% of other channels do. She doesn't show how she collected 3 lime rocks and a shovel of sand on the river and then made 5 tons of cement from it. And how she is crafting a brick from clay for 30 mins, and in the next shot she already "made" 10,000 of them.

​​@@addictiveaussie I would bet you on that, almost 50 year builder, she built buttresses and backfilled as she went up. She will probably fill it and compact the soil a little at a time. She stuccoed the brick wall on the inside and she will probably never empty it or have to worry about freezing or a water source to keep it filled. Of course you wouldn't do it as job you sold to a customer but it's her damn pool and you could tell she thought it through if you paid attention.

I've built pools and the minimum requirement is 200mm wide core filled blocks with N16 starter bars and N16 horizontal reinforcing laid on 400mm 20MPA concrete beam footing. Я так понимаю в ту продольную проточку вдоль кирпича должа устанавливаться арматура? Надо было всё таки армировать кладку, потому что там где она выпуклая полукруглая может быть и выдержит за счёт эффекта арки, а вот там где вогнутая кладка, после засыпки может со временем продавить давлением грунта и она потрескается. Уж слишком тонкая стена в полкирпича, хотя если глубина засыпки будет небольшая, то может быть и обойдётся.

I do my own house renovations and taking a woodworking course in hig hschool 300 years ago was very valuable to me. I dont have the skills of this brick laying although I world like to take a course but none is offered at any type of school. Trade schools in the Atlanta area are non existent since COVID

At the very least she should have put plastic sheeting on the back of the bricks for some kind of water proofing bricks like to suck up water and they become brittle over time. Hopefully the ground never moves like we have in colder weather.

man this is one energetic lady who is actually more impressive than an athlete I grew up on a farm and am very familiar with hand labor involving shovels and wheelbarrows watch her move the wheelbarrow down the planks loaded there is no faking this move strength and balance, but she could have just lined the hole with reflective styrofoam and put a liner in a lot less work and an insulated pool that does not fight with the ground temp waters easy to keep warm still impressive I have a dream and I did it

You do realize many commercial pool for towns and communities are built from cinder blocks don’t you. There are also many many many tunnels and bridges built out of bricks. I can make an arch out of one run of brick that would hold a car up so strength isn’t an issue here

gonna leak unless a liner is used also better back fill outside with concrete or the walls will fail from the water pressure. also those are huge mortar joints. OH i see there is a second part. lest see what happens next.

I work with concrete and I don't see rebar too. It's such a great design. I've even had kiddy pools blow when it's supports were compromised. Rebar and two rows on the bottom foot would be a minimum.

I agree. My husband built a brick planter box in front of our porch from the leftover bricks from our house and he did it just like this, albeit a bit neater, and it cracked across the front after awhile. We filled it with dirt and put plants in it and a drip watering system. I just don’t see how this will hold up as a pool over very long. One of my old friends growing up, her dad had a pool business and we watched her dad put in their pool and it takes a lot of reinforcement to hold together. There is so much under all the concrete. It’s not like they just slapped it on the ground and walls of the hole. That said, I do admire her hard work. I couldn’t do that.

Now I’m not sure why she’s doing this. How I was always taught when laying bricks is to have them butt-up against each other and she’s using a massive amount of Mortar in between each Brick. I don’t know why she is but in the end, especially with water, it’ll eat away at the Mortar and start causing leaks. This is why you need the Bricks butt-up against each other to prevent this.
