Pool came out great! However, for pools this covered in slippery algae, you might want to consider wearing a helmet for this initial rinse phase. One good fall backwards can really mess up your life. Stay safe out there!

@@sandyhughes1520 Thanks for your contribution. I'm sorry to hear of you and your husband's health problems. It's like smoking; every person's response to chemicals is different but generally, a person's experience speaks to the response of the majority. This is why a "safe workplace" is the responsibility of all, the employer, the employee and the Workers Union. Being informed and taking the correct precautions is necessary. People are still dealing with ASBESTOS in this day and age. I've known about the dangers of Asbestos for 65 years, thanks to my parents but still, not the necessary precautions are taken in disposing of old building materials. Most modern countries know about dangers but knowledge gets lost if people are careless and complacent. All the best to you both in a most difficult situation.

That's a truly awesome pool there. Wow. Nice and deep. I absolutely HATE all these shallow pools everywhere now, and all overheated so you can't even cool off on a hot day. Give me one of these any day! Thanks guys for your beautiful restoration job! A suggestion. Get the cheap dollar store dish washer gel detergent stuff and bleach and spray that all over the surface and wait. The gel mixes with the bleach so it stays on the surfaces of walls and curves. It melts algea and mildew. After it dries then pressure wash it. Guaranteed it works better than the acid you first used. Its bleach so plan accordingly with the wind so you have an escape route you don't want to block yourself in with fumes. Remember chlorine and chlorine bleach will eat through materials if they get around it enough so plan accordingly. Probably still safer than acid and cheaper as well as more effective.

You need to find sodium hypochlorite, you can buy a mixer gun which mixes the chemical with soap so it becomes a foam, very fast to cover the whole pool and you just leave for 15 minutes and then rinse no heavy scrubbing needed it stays on the surface even on the sides of a pool or walls your cleaning, it will save you hours of work and with the mixing gun you will probably only use one or two barrels of chemicals and a little soap, your acid falls off the surface before it’s dissolves the dirty, great job just the time and effort not necessary, watch external cleaning videos on KZbin in the U.K. as we are very wet here and everything turns green in winter, you will see the chemicals and gun mixer being used by all the cleaners here ✌🏽
@xplmr1Ай бұрын
Sodium Hypochlorite is just plain pool chlorine. It's as thin as the hydrochloric acid that they are using. In other videos where they use an X-Jet to soft wash apply the SH they add a surfactant that thickens and helps to foam up the SH so that it sticks better to increase the effectiveness during it's dwell time. This acid is a much stronger cleaner that actually dissolves or etches a little bit of the pool's gunite removing not only algae but other stains like orange, red, and yellow rust stains that SH would do nothing to. You really wouldn't want it on the surface any longer than necessary. That's why it instantly turns the surface white and then they pressure wash it off rather quickly. In some angles you can see what looks like smoke or steam from the acid giving of gas as it etches the surface. Cheers!

I used to acid wash and paint pools decades ago but never with a power washer. That was excellent, and makes me miss those days but I don't miss the acid fumes. Do you use soda ash in the end to neutralize the plaster? I used to. Also the waste water was always a concern flowing down the street. Hey I was young and there weren't many restrictions back them. I am sure I cleaned a lot of car tires in the neighborhood - or damaged them. Who knows?

What a work! Turned out great! Some question tho… is it the editing that makes it seem like you don’t give the chemical time to do its thing? Because it appears you immediately rinse it away from the surface. Or is it because you use a higher percentage of bleach that you need to do that, otherwise it bites in the pool? Also, why is only one of you wearing a mask? 😮 Working so close together must mean both of you must getting hit with those toxic fumes. Or… I dunno. 😅 please take care of yourself and keep up the good work.

Look into what's called a sludge sucker. It attaches to the end of your pressure washing gun and creates vacuum which sucks up the water with the attachment and drains the water down the thicker hose it comes with. Could work for when you are left with low water and lots of sludge that the pump can't handle. Also look into a bucket sprayer. It's a lid with a 1 gallon per minute pump and a runs off a drill battery (12v or 18v). You can suck up that acid and spray it from a 5 gallon bucket with a hose rather than the watering can or adapt it for a larger bucket. Could be useful for you. You should also use a surface cleaner (16") since it looks like you're using a 4gpm machine (4" per 1gpm is recommended). I use a 16" with my 4gpm machine.

Not sure if yall have tried it before but with the algae. Possibly try 10% pool bleach mixed with water and a surfactant. Possibly dilute it to a 4-5% mixture. Should will kill all the algae it touches but not sure what y’all have where y’all are at
