I remember playing this with my dad years ago. I miss those days. I remember trying to play again, but the camera angle got struck. I am glad that if you listen to Emily or john, you get hints about what to do in the first part. Like emily says to push the wardrobe over the window. Learning that was good. I really hope i can watch someone set off all the traps one day, though.

This is the best walkthrough of the game. Not just about killing zombies and survive, but also tells the stories which the game team has clearly put much efforts on. I remember playing this game with my cousin when I was little and got scared and excited at the same time. Thank you for sharing this and bringing the memories back!

I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Like yourself, I find it nostalgic. I hadn't even played it before, but I remember hearing about it and it very much brings to mind the sort of survival horror games that were around when I was a kid, those that followed it within a few years, like the original PS1 Resident Evil.

Thank you so much for the gameplay! Really appreciate it! I remember I played this game in my childhood. In my opinion, it is the one of the best games in my videogaming history so far. It actually helped me to learn English (as well as many other games did).

Excellent walkthrough. I appreciate you took time to explain the books (I didn't understand most of them at the time), and show off some of the different traps your character can fall into.

Only a few minutes into this, just far enough to pass up dying to the gargoyles. But this is a great guide. You're very thorough. Love that you take the time to show what happens when you do certain things incorrectly. These old games required so much trial and error to beat. So if I'm going to use a guide, at least you can share the logic behind the decisions. May try to carry on ahead but saving far more regularly than my Resident Evil instincts would prefer, and just get used to redoing things. Though I also want to finish this video just to hear your enthusiasm and insights.

Hey if you are still reading the comments here. The Game you talk about around 33:00 is "Shadow of the Comet" if you still want to try it. Its on GOG and more of a classic (point and click) adventure

This walkthrough is top notch. I loved this game when I was a kid and it absolutely terrified me and my sister. Specially when we touched the dancing ghosts in the ballroom or the shadow ghost in the fire place. Such good times. Thank you for this video.

As was mentioned by another commenter, the first book you find referencing another Infogrames game is called, "Shadow of the Comet." However, the other book, iirc, talks about another game called, "Prisoner of Ice." Sometimes both games are prefaced with "Call of Cthulu:" if that helps with your search. Both games are standard point and click adventures. However, both games are considered abandonware these days so I wish you luck if you feel like finding and playing them. Great commentary to a game, by the way. Nice bits of info I picked up along the way.

Thank you for the walkthrough. It was extremely helpful/ I was in high school when this came out in 1992 but I had never played it until now. In case you were curious ... you remember how you commented at the end you didn't think those falling rocks could kill you? Well, they can. I had six health points left and one of them hit me and took me out. :P Fortunately I had saved and I redid the ending. Thanks again!

Excellent walkthrough. But, one aside. How in the blue blazes did the devs expect us to solve this whole game without a walkthrough or a guide of some kind? I guess gamers were more keen and sharp witted in 1992, huh?
@jayt.maximus9433 Жыл бұрын
I often wonder that about certain games too! I'm guessing some super clever or determined gamers tended to solve it by sheer force of patience and obsession, then it spread by word of mouth from there.

@@jayt.maximus9433 Like Waxworks! Also a 1992 game, a good one but it's so complicated. That one in particular is difficult purely for the sake of it.

I would have played this with my friend around 95-96 and it involved a HUGE amount of trial and error. We blew hours and hours attempting to do things that were impossible ("let's try using THIS dagger on the ballroom dancers, not that one." etc). But it all just became that much more rewarding when something did work. We never did figure out some of the stuff in the end, and I had to have a different friend make a cheat sheet for me to get into the caverns.

@@NoBandwidth-0yeah gaming was a completely different experience back then. There was no Internet to turn to when you got stuck. You either found a friend who knew what to do or you bought a guide (if there even was one!) Or you figured it out yourself, no matter how long it took.

Whats the difference in gameplay between Emily and Edward?
@jayt.maximus9433 Жыл бұрын
It's been a while now, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any really noticeable difference, if any. They have all the same puzzles, the same monsters, etc. One difference, though, is that Emily's opening gives you a hint that Edward's doesn't, about how to avoid the first enemy attack.
@albertmolina8186 Жыл бұрын
Edward's melee combat ( never used in this playthrough )is sluggier, but has better range. Rest is the same

I wish I held as much passion for AitD as you. I've really been into old horror games, particularly the big fifth gen titles (RE1-3, SH1, Deep Fear, etc.), I love horror point and clicks, but AitD was always too clunky for me.
