Alone in the Wilderness of Finland

Before the snow came and covered everything I went to arrange my thoughts and find me again into the wilderness of northern Finland. I live quite close to these areas where there's not much of anything there - and I love it. The silence is breathtaking and being surrounded by such amount of nothingness I feel my presence coming back to me.

Thanks! I share your feelings and know it’s difficult to explain. I can only be in the north of Finland few times a year, but I escape to the nature in southern Finland many times a year. Especially now when the nights get cold, and it’s just me in the forest at night, enjoying just being… Keep up the good work!

What an amazingly beautiful landscape! Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. Unfortunately where I live I don't have such huge wilderness. But I guess I feel sort of the same when I go hiking in the mountains. Sitting on top of a mountain and watching the sun set or rise is a breathtaking experience. In those moments I feel grounded and connected and all those daily troubles I live through become insignificant and are far far away. And Papu is soooo cute! 🥰

@@sannavaara True... the alps are one big benefit of living in central europe and I certainly do enjoy them. But they're also often very exploited touristically. You have it far more peaceful up north!

Thank you 🥰 This is in the far north, in Lapland. This wilderness area is called the Puljutunturi wilderness area. A small and unpopular place to visit, that's why it's one of my favorites ☺

Nice video, it was a pleasure watching it 😊 A question to you: what area or national park would you recommend to hike through in Finland? I hiked in Norway and Sweden and now I am eager to visit Finland. Are there any national park comparable to Sarek? Surprisingly, I have not managed to find something in internet. May you give me a hint?

Sarek is truly one of a kind place, also here in the north. We don't have mountains or glaciers in Finland so our national parks might be a bit kinder, calmer, and smaller. Depending on what kind of hike you have in mind, I would recommend UKK national park or Kilpisjärvi wilderness areas. They both are not easy (in UKK there are easier and marked trails) but really beautiful. In UKK there are several marked trails as well as a wilderness area with nothing there. Kilpisjärvi wilderness area is large and wild, but unique. I hope you find something helpful here ☺

Let me just say this. Since my early childhood, I didn't really had a dream like the other kids, never actually found a certain job or a certain social position or any property to be fulfilling the gap of desire in my heart and soul. However there is one thing that has always got my attention, my heart, my soul.. something no else understood or found interesting, and that is Freedom. Freedom is not something you understand but rather something you feel deep within your soul, the hunger for the Unknow, the hunger for new possibilities, the hunger for knowledge, for adventure, for the stars... and also for a piece quiet life in the wilderness with a female average looking... it's hardwired in your soul. I'm a 20 y/o physicist now, and I don't know if I will ever be able to fill this gap, infact things are going south for me but I promise you this: If the world blesses me with any of my two dreams I will happiest.
