This one is going in my top 3 favorites. It's a beautiful island, really like that you went in the off season and during Fall. I liked hearing the leaves crunch. The bread and soup looked amazing. The guest house was so nice. Never knew the history of Estonia, it's very interesting and a bit sad. However, I would live there for sure. I liked the graveyard. It looked so peaceful. Glad you found a cat!

Estonia blew away all my preconceptions, it's a beautiful country that I absolutely will go back to. Thank you for watching!

I'm fascinated by the number of "herbed" sodas you find to drink. It sounds so very odd to me! Also I was very entertained by your reaction to the bar. I could tell you were disapointed in it by how brusque you were talking about it hahah. The whole island looks so idyllic. I want to go while the weather is a bit better but still as close to the off-season as possible to have all that peace and quiet!

Next trip you want to go on you know I'm happy to go. You name the place Paula.

Last year I went to Kuressaare right in the middle of summer, the weather was lovely but the whole town seemed very empty. I guess you just got to check that there are no events on the island when you go to get the same experience.

The theme for this series is definitely wind and rain but the sights are very idyllic.

Mathew starting to get an audience, maybe he's being recognised, they'll be wanting a autograph next! 😉😀 More pop and a bar is always good. I'm always surprised when Mathew goes wondering that he doesn't get stopped more often and asked what he's doing 🙂

My favourite thing about these, is the balance with obscure history/educational, and random snacks/drinks. Also, I'd love to plot your scores on a chart and attempt to establish some kind of correlation/baseline in the numbers... 🤔

Interesting. And I guess a reminder of how little I know about Estonia. It looks very nice. Was it like this in Soviet times? It just doesn't seem to fit with what (little) I know about the USSR.

A lot has changed I think, they fought hard to have what they have.

Hi Matthew, really enjoyed this video of your time in Kuressaare Estonia. It was funny that you mentioned the weather was not good but the sunshine at the beginning of the video and end looked really fantastic on video. Could hear the wind though in the middle and it looked quite overcast. I can understand your fascination with cemeteries as I find them very interesting to walk through and think what the people's lives were like that are buried there. Always enjoy that you buy unusual things to try in your Pop and a Bar segments so it is interesting to see your reactions when you try them. Onwards and upwards till next time Matthew.

@YesLandTravel I remember you talking about wanting to do things like that on DBM. That is why I wanted you to know you are succeeding, at least with me. Thank you again. Keep exploring.

It's disappointing that the windmill doesn't turn in the wind. Maybe it's a bit less maintenance that way, but still...

Yeah, slap a dynamo on it and on a day like this it would have powered theh whole town!

Once again I really liked this video. I think Pop and a Bar is so great. I loved seeing all the areas where the people live, work and shop. This video is a good mix of the everyday areas and the somewhat different local sights. Also love seeing the restaurants and hotels that you've been to.

Thank you! I really like trying to show the wonder and beauty in the normality of other places if that makes sense.

At first, I thought "hey whole island to explore without a mass of tourists? Sounds great!" But then seeing how desolate it felt with the closed shops and empty restaurants, I changed my mind. I hope you enjoyed it though!

It was a wonderful place to just be a while. If that makes sense. But yeah not something for all the time.

Can you spell out the name(s) of that myth with the two carrying the fishing boat? I'd like to read more.
