I spent 12 years in the army and didn't go anywhere for Christmas with my family, because I hate flying during the holidays. They do serve a Christmas dinner in the mess hall, which I enjoyed. I was mostly overseas, and being a 'loner' I entertain myself by watching KZbin/Prime movies and don't feel that lonely. (I love the old B&W movies) I have lost several family members through divorces or death in 2024. So I can see where your talking about being alone for Christmas, and I'm sure their are many others who are also alone during the holidays. Our weather right now is very cold, the coldest I have ever seen...5 degrees, with rain in the forecast right after the holiday. Enjoyed your showing your house, and decorations.

Hello and I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! That you celebrate Christmas alone can often be the best. You celebrate in peace and quiet and enjoy Christmas food and watch videos and watch KZbin and enjoy. Imagine celebrating with family members who just sit and are sad or make mean comments..... Thanks for updating us on what's new, Richie. And thank you for acknowledging your Patreon supporters. This is my first Christmas truly alone; partly by choice but partly due to circumstances. I will attend a potluck at the local Pride Center on Christmas Day for a few hours, but that's it. I almost didn't decorate or put up a tree, but I finally decided to do it. Myself and one friend are the only people who will see it; but Mom's ashes-box is not far from the tree, so she is here in spirit. Keep safe, do good, be happy, and keep posting occasionally. {hugs}

I have been very frustrated with the season! My husband and I travelled to Cincinnati to celebrate my Sister graduate with a PHD! It was epic! It gave me the opportunity the finally have some time with my husbands parents, that do not support our relationship. My husband has a very large family, he is the middle child of nine. I got to interact with his dad for the first time. His dad was so nice! His mom, who I have met a couple of times, patted her hand on the sofa next to her. She want to just make me feel included. Traditions can be challenging, particularly when there are cultural issues to deal with.

Great video, thanks for all the insights and the sharing ! Being there for others and feeling drained, running on empty, sound like typical empath traits ! As an empath (or super empath), one needs to be careful to retain, or as you say, reclaim your energy and refill your energy reservoir. With similar issues, I too chose to spend Christmas alone this year, and am entirely not unhappy with that. No stress, and it’s still possible to do all the nice things, like decorations, tasty dishes, shopping, and church/religious service if it is for you. And it doesn’t mean being alone forever, it’s just managing these days, owing it to yourself, not overburdening yourself. And there’s always your growing "family of friends", which over time may become your actual loving family ! Thanks also for your good words of encouragement in going forward. Me too I had to get myself out of a corner this year - no easy feat, and no one will do it for you. You just have to (re-)connect with your inner will, now matter how down and resistant to change you feel on the inside, and start moving, one (small) step at a time, in the new, better direction. It will almost instantly be rewarded ! Anyway, have a great Christmas and looking forward to your further new updates !

Hi Richie You are not the only one who has to spend Christmas alone. My X was supposed to visit, but unfortunately he couldn't come. My old mother is going to visit my brother, so I'm sitting alone with my dog. I'm not sorry, but I miss my x. He will visit in a few weeks when he can get time off. I enjoy being alone and I think you do too. Some of us like our own selves and being at peace with our own thoughts. You are sweet and lovable. Happy Holidays. your house looks great. Holiday get togethers are just a random thing for many. The older you get the more you will realize it. Still, had tons of awesome Christmas' growing up If anything at least I get a day off from work and having the chance to sleep in and that is not a bad thing. Richie this is exactly what I needed. Seeing it like 5 hours late. Last week mom called me & discussed that she is going to a friend's for Christmas & invited me to go, but I declined & chose to spend Xmas alone w my dog Layla. So much I can relate to in this vlog: I am the black sheep of the fam, or unique as I call it. I've been doing a lot of soul searching & avoiding lately to find myself. I am a type A person (the A hole I guess). The 1st half of this gave me a huge kick in the ass (for the better). The 2nd half ( when u got up & gave a tour) I loved for other reasons > the paintings you did in the office, your full Xmas tree & especially your home gym > treadmill & garage set up...I'm so jealous bc I live in an apartment & don't have space for heavy equipment. I left home at 19 and never looked back, I knew I was different, and did Not speak to my Father for 31 years and phoned my mom once a month and sister every 3 months. I was doing my own business and was happy, visited 140 Nations, earned millions, and had a happy Life. My advice is to get OUT of your Family's Head and Live Your Life.. It is Your Power, not your parents. You are loved, but grow up and outward, and help those like yourself. At now 71 and finally selling my Art Gallery last months and pursuing Retirement. All that hype leading up to Xmas the 25th really does have folks glad to see the 26th show up not realizing the the 25th is the 1st day of Xmas and the 11 days following is the Xmas season ending with the Feast of the 3 Kings on the 6th of January. I don't take down my decorations until the 7th of January; sad that its over for the another year. During the Xmas season, I do enjoy myself and hand out gifts to family and friends, send Xmas cards out and not worry about diet...lol...will be looking into a candle or two from your collection also....God Love You and MERRY XMAS!
