In the Uk this type of old house would be classed as ‘ listed’ which means the owner is not allowed to change the original features and if a repair is needed then it would then have to be a ‘like for like’ and be approved!

Please don’t chase the bats away. They are so valuable in that they eat massive amounts of insects. They are all too often endangered by prejudice and of course by loss of habitat. Seeing the inside you can tell it is very European, with the staff bedroom and the gorgeous Delft tiles in the kitchen. The old hardware on the doors is priceless. I hope you install underfloor heating and cooling systems trough out the entire home. Get rid of those big ugly hot water radiators. Plus the warm floors in winter are a much more effective way to heat the whole house and in the hot summer you can cool the whole house with the same system. Brilliant! No ugly radiators!
