For fucks sake don't buy any programs. First figure out what goals do you want to achieve and then do progression which leads to towards that specific goal. Why do you need to buy a planche program when you already know the way to planche( planche leans, decent handstand holds, vertical and horizontal pushing strength and progression holds) . This is it and people are stupid enough to buy shitty programs

Look at TODD WHITE on youtube. LOVE looks like its Father. And everyone who looks in the mirror, sees a glimpse of it. Made in that beautiful image. Avid lifter for over three years. Didn’t really build a strong foundation in the beginning which did lead to me plateauing eventually. I then decided to get into Calisthenics to build a good foundation of strength. I don’t remember who but I remember hearing “if you can’t do simple body weight exercises with good form and with a certain amount of reps, you have no business touching any weight”. That is where I put down my ego and started a Calisthenics program. Feels pretty damn good for a change;)
@ExternusArmy6 жыл бұрын
You’re self defeating with stupid rules like that. I was shit at pull ups for a long time, and most calisthenics for that matters. I could obviously do the minimum just due to experience but I wasn’t excelling. I stopped all calisthenics and switched to some smarter, more focused exercises to address my issues. My pull ups were weak because I had poor lat mind muscle connection. Doing more pull ups didn’t help, I just compensated with other muscles. I had to do a lot of rows, lat pulldown, some deadlifts. My pull ups dramatically improved because I had to really work to address my issues. If you want to improve, address your issues. Calisthenics are great but try not to never set up generalized rules.
@timeracer11136 жыл бұрын
gaylord nah, it actually makes sense. If you check out dudes like Kelly Brown and the dudes he trains with, they’re all pretty much good with their body weight and are much stronger than me. They were saying that strict body weight training and all those repetitions played into the key lifts that make the body. I’m sure if I were to walk in their gym and load deadlift bar with 3 plates and do them for reps, they’d tell me to try some pull-ups. I would probably be able to bang out a couple of reps. They’d tell me something like “sit yo little itty bitty ass down and get good with yo body weight fool”. These guys are huge and can do over 40+ pull-ups in one go. Why? Because in the beginning they got super good with their body weight;)

I was doing calisthenics since I was in elementary school and when I stopped for a few years ago after I started having kids, got back into fitness two years I started with calisthenics and was back to repping 30-40 push-ups in one set of push-ups in no time even though I was 50lbs heavier and starting to get fat. Now I’m back almost to where I was in high school at BW and stronger at weightlifting at 60lbs heavier then I graduated at. Definitely need to start with your bodyweight.

What's awesome about owning hardcore calisthenics strength is its independent ability, harmonious strength development because the body aligns itself in its strongest position while also using almost the full body as a compund lift. Also the fact that calisthenics helps with weights, and so in return, like concurrent periodization, thus faster strength and muscle development is achieved.

@ihezzz6 жыл бұрын
Im about to test your hypothesis. Few years ago I was much lighter (86 kg) and did a bit of calisthenics (sets of 14 Pull ups with bodyweight, 5x5 with 25kg extra weight, so I was no beast even then, but no complete beginner either). Then over the last years I started weight lifting with little success, but became fat (112 kg). Since monday I'm back at calisthenics because lifting weights resulted in much injuries for me and I never really entered the stage where it was fun to me (with one exception: Trap Bar Deadlift. Still like it). Now I have to see how fast my pull-up-strength comes back. Currently I can do only 1 with bodyweight. We'll see. I'm planning to use the protocoll which gave the biggest gains back then, which was escalating density training. I just set a time frame for every movement and do more reps in the same time every session. Alex, I feel you lately spend more time talking about calisthenics, I like that. Would love to see some collaborations in this field. I think Irvin Felix John is a super nice dude with lots of knowledge and a crazy level of fitness who is focusing on calisthenics. Would love to see you two guys collaborating!

Biggest regret training wise is not starting with calisthenics. We wanted to look like bodybuilders so we tried to copy what they did not taking into account the drugs that got them their physiques. 15-20 years later I've now incorporated calisthenics and the benefits are better mobility, less joint soreness, more fun, no gym membership, less equipment, fitter athletic body, more exercise selections and more options to learn new skills. Anyone who says pushups aren't hard enough to progress on is just ignorant and narrow minded. KZbin calisthenics culture is much more positive, less drama, health based and no dogma.

My reasoning is that I didn't see much sense working out with weights if I can't even do 5 pushups, 0 pullups, just 20 sit ups and 10 bodyweight squats almost dying. I'm enjoying my new program more than the countless machine work that I've done in the gym the past few months. @sergiopacheco29395 жыл бұрын
I started to workout in 2007 at age of seventeen, and I started with just pushups, bodyweight squats and crunches. I did not know any better. Sometimes, if I had access to dumbbells, I would do bicep curls. I rarely trained back and shoulders, which brought its drawbacks in the later years. Not untill the summer of 2008 did I start lifting after joining a weight training class in the summer. This was in high school. I remember one guy asking me once, "how much can you bench?" I'm like, what is that? Then, he was like, "well how did you get a big chest"? " I just do pushups", I said. I did not know what a bench press exercise was. By the time I got under the squat rack or bench, I was able to do 40 pushups or more in one set with good form. I had overall good strength and flexibility. I was also pretty fast and could sprint. My confidence and the way of looking at the world also changed, in regards to health, fitness, self improvement, etc. Suddenly I was passionate about fitness. Sometimes I would even workout twice a day. I lifted weights from 2008 to 2014. Then I stopped exercising, especially due to some health problems. I've just walked. On March of this year I began with calisthenics once more. And currently I can do like 4 sets of pullups of 5 reps, slowly. I can do forty or fifty pushups in one workout too. So did all the bodyweight training I did in the past help? I think so. If I were a complete beginner, I don't think I would be able to do chin ups, pull ups, or diamond pushups on my first workout, after not training consistently for years. I mean yeah, here and there I used to do pushups and pull ups, but rarely. I don't think I trained more than ten times last year. When I started lifting in 2008, I was among the strongest in the class. Meanwhile the other kids were struggling to bench 95 pounds, I was bench pressing 135 or chest pressing with 50 pound dumbbells within a week or two of train. I could do pull ups too without much struggle, sets of up to 7 reps (even though I had never done pull ups before). Back then on KZbin I don't recall seeing videos on calisthenics. Aside from folks like Vince Del Monte, Arnal ( or whatever the guy's name was who had a sixteen course on six pac abs), I can't recall other fitness KZbin celebrities. Over time, I tried things like full body, the typical bro split, HIT, abbreviated routines, etc. But in the end I like my calisthenics. It can be done anywhere and it's fun. Note: I'm five foot nine and between 165 to 170 pounds at the moment.

One thing I love about calisthenics is that you can do a decent workout almost everywhere. Current traveling and sometimes I don't have access to a gym. Grabbed two chairs did dips, then I did bunch of decline push ups. Killed my abs with different exercises and finished off with pistol squats.

Even barbell squats are weighted calisthenics. I've gained 45lbs in the process and I let me tell you, I actually got even better at calisthenics without even trying, just doing basic stuff. I've got a good squat and can perform one arm pull ups, handstand push-ups, straddle planche, 33 pull-ups... Im not trying to brag or anything, but I guess that starting with calisthenics was the absolute best thing to do.

Any difference between one 8 hour sleep, and two 4 hour sleep windows?
@PaulStickman6 жыл бұрын
Not an expert, but there is something like deep/REM sleep which you dont access instantly when asleep, but rather need more time to "fall" in to that sleep mode which will not happen if u wake up in the middle of the process, therefore u will feel less rested etc

What's up my brother, love your content immensely! On the quest to getting naturally yoked arms, it is a painfully slow journey but what do you think about getting the 'seated overhead tricep extension' crazy strong? I'm talking like doing the 110lb dumbbell for reps? Haven't seen you do them or talk about it. The weighted stretch is unbelievable on it and also many bodybuilders like Jay cutler and Kai greene went super heavy on them.

If u make a calisthenics program, i would buy it. Just sayin

Or u know just a quick KZbin search and you'll find everything u need. I wouldn't pay for that but if u do it's cool I'm just saying

I think everyone should incorporate a few calisthenics movements likes a one push one pull plus pistol squats as well as a skill version in addition to weight training. This is working good for me weighted chin-up day (finally got 2 plates) and then weighted dips another day. for skills I'm trying to do planche but I suck at it can barely do frog stand and front lever which I can actually do for like half a second so much better at pulls naturally.

I am just taking a wild guess but I think the calisthenics thing you are talking about is like riding a bicycle where your body just remembers. It may have something to do with the nervous system and brain.

How would you approach weighted calisthenics, workout out 3 days a week. 2-day split? Push Pull Legs? Full body? What rep schemes?
@1supersayian6 жыл бұрын
You could just run it similar to naturally enhanced just with only calisthenics based movements
@gingercore696 жыл бұрын
I would probably do once every two days... Since you dont need a gym... That means one week you will do 3 days and the next you will do 4 days and then it repeats the cycle...

I just love these videos because it's such a refreshingly different perspective, sadly. Most lifters I know mock anyone who does anything other than the barbell and some machines.
