I'm only about 30ish miles in on mine so great to know they hold up so well. I get a bit of soreness under my arch but last run that seemed to mostly go away so think it just needed a bit of breaking in. If they last 150+ miles that should mean I can do a bit more training than I planned in them before my marathon to make sure that arch issue is fully resolved. Hope it is sorted asi agree they're a fantastic shoe! At marathon power they just turn over so fluidly and the watts relative to HR shows there's definitely truth in the hype.

Totally agree. 200 miles almost in mine. Been using for key long runs in a marathon training block and still holding up superbly well. I wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t retire until 300, which would be a first for a super shoe for me. Vapors I always retire at 150 so was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for this vid kofuzi! I've ran around 90 miles on these shoes and everytime I run on them they feel great! Only issue is that My beginners knowledge of running didn't know much about my running style until I saw what happened to this shoe!- My heelstriking and and overpronation caused the sole of this shoe to wear out pretty bad, pretty quickly, around the inside part of the heel. It's such an expensive shoe as well so I've been adding some shoegoo on it and it still gets the job done. I don't want to risk using it for long runs so I just use it for fast 5k-10k's

Great review. Here, two years later. Good to hear about about the air pads. Take a look at early air pods 30-40 years ago. I used to cut the pillows out of the shoes at the end of the shoe's life, use them in other shoes. The pillows had air chambers set in a small maze like pattern and the chambers the size of your pinkie. And yeah, some popped here and there. Early models, believe it or not, left the air pillow sort of exposed, thorns sometimes punctured the pillows and theqould burst like a balloon.

I remember watching your review back when I first came across this shoe in the only Nike franchise store here in DC. I had no clue what it was used for. When I bought them it (sounded) as if I had on boots when I walked/ran. I remember feeling taller just walking in them, walking is not a good idea. Running in the first pair was noisy, also awkward. The latest Alphafly 2, are much more comfortable and light.

Outstanding shoes for an absorbent/cushioned ride, but, in my experience wearing them, heal wear is a fairly rapidly developing problem if you’re not running fast enough to minimize heal strike. Despite the wear (and expense), I’ve not found anything that I’d rather wear. I’m hooked!

Been getting back in shape, ran like 20mi week1 35mi week 2 week 3 ran about 56-60 week 4 went back to abt 20 to keep fresh before next months workouts shoes in great shape still. There is wear on the front end, also getting mad blisters after like 8miles i am running in a humid env (tropical) and dont use anti blister socks so maybe the humidity is whats causing it but idk. I do feel like overtime my foot will get accustomed to it since im seeing less blisters since running in them for pretty much a month straight. But the irritation is still there, but in my opinion its worth it, i normally do my runs at around 6:45-6:50per mi and im still pretty outta shape. I feel like they do assist me in keeping my consistency, especially when i start getting in that zone after like mile 7-8 where im on my way back to my house lmao i can slow down and the springyness definately helps me so ill take on all the blisters although if someone has a cure that can assist def do tell

I love my pair but I also went up a half size because i wear orthotics just to make sure I have space. Plenty of space and no toe pain so I would recommend sizing up half from Your standard Nike size (which may already be 1/2 size up from other brands in my experience). I also don’t prefer a tight shoe. Would rather have toe mobility even at speed and I’m talking around 6min miles.

I am having similar issues with my shoes as well. I am not too impressed with the comfort of the shoes or the fact how they are not a snug as I thought they would be. During my Half I started having a bit of rubbing around the right big toe area. After the run was done, I had to take off the right shoes as it was irritating my toe. Also, I felt a lot of discomfort on both arches inside and outside. Overall, I did enjoy running in the shoes and I look forward to more runs in them.

I've now done 3 training session in the Alphaflys 7k, 15k and HM, breaking them in slowly - or rather getting my body used to the shoes slowly. These aren't my first carbon plated shoes but while it took me little to no time to adapt to the Hyperion Elite 2s or the Endorphine Pros, I feel like I'll actually have to do some 300-400k to be able to run a marathon in these. Now here is what I like about them: - They make me faster. The HM-training session today was an unexpected HM PB (1:38:10) which kind of shocked me since it was my first HM under 1:41:00 and I hadn't even gotten much sleep the night before. The 7k "break in run" and the second 15k session looked like threshold/fast days on strava even though I had no intention of going fast. - The upper is not only super breathable but also holds your foot in a way that you could probably run a whole marathon with your laces untied (which is not likely to happen since the laces are also very good) What I hate about the shoes: - They are by no means comfortable. The 4mm drop that will actually feel like a 0mm drop because the front part of the shoe is so much harder than the back part is taking its toll on my feet and will probably require me to ditch anything else from my shoe-rotation that has a higher than 8mm heel to toe drop and do some barefoot running/walking until the big day (marathon) - My foot arches hurt when I wear them because they are ridiculously narrow in the midfoot area. While it's not insuffrable it's also not very comfortable. - My forefeet start to feel numb where the air pods are after about 10k. Again not a dealbreaker but not fun - They are super loud - which makes people turn their heads at you - They are the most ugly shoes I have ever worn - They don't feel like running shoes. They feel like sport equipment for another sport - like rollerskates........ or a bicycle

I have the Alphafly V1. I find the "negative drop" a problem. The back of is soft but the front is hard.. Killing my calfs. Do the front air pods get softer with time?

Hi, thank you much for a great review! I'm just thinking what shoes should buy for my first marathon race, Next% 2 or Alphafly :) 3 weeks ago, I went on my first marathon trial in my life, exactly on my 42th birthday anniversary and did it in 3:11, while my goal was below 3:30, so was very very happy with that. I ran in Endorphin Pro. I plan to race officially 1st time in October and would like to try Next% 2 or Alphafly. So you would recommend Alphafly for marathon racing over Next% or Next% 2 , right? Thanks a lot, very appreciated. Your fan from Slovakia :)

Advise please - Got my first Alphafly V1 today. Feels extremely bouncy. Two problems if possible to advise. 1. It's not possible to do a running Knot so my heels are a bit slipping.. 🤔 2. I do feel one ankle sore after my run.🤔 (My run was 8k and I broke 2 records but the shoes "made me" do it.. Garmin 745 says load 260 Strava RE 180 and Garmin say rest 67 hour in RED 🙄. I am 60YO but had to try the Alphafly.. My bucket list) .

Question: does the heel drop in the Alphafly feel as low as 4mm feels in other shoes? I normally can't do 4mm or often even 6mm without aggravating my achilles. But the Alphafly looks squishy enough, and the forefoot looks to have enough of an upward curve, that I wonder whether it functions more like a higher drop shoe. I'm reluctant to pay such a high price for a shoe that my achilles might prevent me from using much.

I have these shoes they have been great in all my half marathons! But I just did the Indianapolis full marathon and on my left leg under the keen on the lower side of the leg I had major pain I think because these shoes have so much bounce that your legs twist more then in other shoes and yes in marathons these shoes kill your toe nails!

@kofuzi - did you notice you had to break them in a bit? For me, I had to get through 10-12 miles of them being ultra stiff/snappy before it felt like the whole “platform” loosened up a nudge to become race day ready. Perhaps it was me just getting used to them, but I don’t think that’s true. Anyways, loved this video! Interested to hear your thoughts! (They crunch my toes to black also during the 26.2)

you'll want to look for shoes that are intended for daily training or that are in the max cushion category. the Alphafly is a racing shoe and probably not the best choice. my current favorite max cushion shoe is the New Balance More v3
