Hey, Rudy. I can confirm that the foiling of Masterpieces in europe is Different. The Borders have the Same foiling, but the Textbox and the picture Are not that Foiled. They Are very matte. The Ivocations on the other Hand Are the Same. Greetings from germany

Hey Rudy, first I just wanna say how much I appreciate your videos, I've watched quite a few of them now and they have given me SOOO much insight into Magic (and I started playing right after 4th edition came out) especially from an investor's perspective, not to mention Second, I have a judge foil Lightning Bolt I'd like to sell if you're interested. It's in super crisp condition, near mint at least. I also have an Alpha Lightning Bolt, also very crisp, maybe near mint minus.

Does wizards reprint judge promo art later in sets or is judge art unique to them and stays that way?

Leyline original print is M11 and the off set on mid is about .01 different, however most original prints that hold value are the ones that when they are reprinted have a different art.

I think the Pithing Needle is regular US printing. The foil on the actual art block isn't really foily. I haven't heard about the difference in the Belgian vs US on the masterpieces, but I'll keep an eye out. Maybe even pick up some Walmart packs to see if I can get a Belgium printing to conpare.

All my out of box foils are darker with a noticably matter finish when sleeved. Most of the player reward, fnm, judge foils in my collection while brighter are curled into toothpick holders though.

Now clue what the deal is with warping in other peoples collections. I've had an unsleaved foil serra ascendant laying around in a box since i pulled it at release and it's almost as straight as an arrow. Several common and uncommon foils from the alara block are completely fine as well.

I find it interesting, maybe its just the face to face trading experiences vs online market, but there seem to be some major differences. First of all, old vs reprint that the market doesn't care... mattered immensely on table. Same with signed cards, on table trades they were always sought after, compared what Rudy said in his 51000 bucks video.

I often wonder why some magic cards are not valued based on first printing... like hockey cards who have the Rookie year being the most sought after, isn't there any market for Magic rookie cards? and could they one day circumvent the reserve list if it ever gets canceled?

The Japan foiling process for the Masterpieces is unique. They don't warp like the normal foiling. They stand out in a pile of foils because they are less bent.

A snippit about Grim Monolith the card: when Extended had its rotation and banning update in 2004 you could pick those up for $5.00 when everyone was dumping Force of Will and Revised dual lands. Now, they are what, $56.00? Just surprises me on how time affects prices on rare cards or those on the reserved lists.

Original printing foil can hold value, look at Lowryn Thoughtseize vs Theros. Same with Future Sight Tarmogoyfs, other cards versions are low but you'll never get a FS foil Goyf for

Originally, Wizards allowed FTV and similar products to contain reserve list cards. There was a small number that were printed, and the latest one was 4 or 5 years ago. The uproar from the collecting community was huge and they since changed it completely so no new reserve list cards printings even in special products. I think silver border is the only way they can ever reprint these items now; that isn't even definitive.

Collector's care about first prints. No matter how many times you reprint something the number of originals doesn't increase. Once a cards price becomes as much about collectability as demand for play, the value of the original won't be impacted as much by reprints.

Darnezy1 its hard for a non big seller to sell cards are full vaule. And its common for game stores to pay less the vaule for cards so they can make profit. It would cost people more then most cards are worth to sell properly
