Most of the people who have been in it for long enough did. Twilight Masquerade is a terrible set with 2 good chase cards. The price will only increase with time until a reprint happens.

What I like is that the ER covers through June, which I assume does not cover Bloomburrow sales/orders. There's also the upcoming Monty Python SL which will probably do well. I'm going to get a few shares of HAS. What I don't like is that their dividend payout ratio to revenue is like -37% (eg their dividend is eating all their revenue if I interpreted it right). Still it's not the main quarter (holidays) so we'll see

Hasbro, for Action Figures, has pivoted, and changed their case allotments, which used to contain 8 figures, 1 figure per wave plus 1 duplicate. They are now, configuring cases as 8 of the same figure, selling it by the case, which allows stores to just buy the popular figures, and not buy the peg warmers. Essentially, all the best figures are sold out, and they sit on the non ordered figures. However, this makes sense, if they are making less of everything. That said, if your a store, instead of ordering 2-4 cases for a figure wave, if you were to order all 7 in a wave, your cost just doubled from 450 to 1000 per wave.

500+ stores easily do $175-$500,000 every single week, every single year. During the holidays sales tend to double, triple, even quadruple. I’d say 13 billion was a steal. However, Whole Foods pays incredibly well and the insurance is some of the best offered at that buy in. You see the difference? Rudy is 100% correct.

if "cooking" implies doing something illegal, that might not be the case, but it still doesn't mean that their numbers are what they say they are. What I've suspected for years now is that the "earnings" that get counted as being WOTC's are only part of the picture, with Hasbro eating their losses elsewhere in the organization. Specifically, WOTC's earnings come from card sales, but it isn't clear to me that WOTC's ledger also contains the costs of making the game in it. For example, If Hasbro and WOTC have something like a traditional publisher/developer relationship, then Hasbro would be, by definition, paying for the cost of printing. I know back in Ixalan 1 days WOTC received an ultimatum from Hasbro that they needed to reduce the cost of printing, but it's not clear to me that WOTC is "paying" for printing out of their own budget, even if they were tasked with reducing that cost. Similarly, all of the Universes Beyond products that aren't from Hasbro IPs require licensing agreements, and just about every licensing agreement involves paying the IP owner for use of the license, often in the form of royalties. I heard that the LoTR license was particularly expensive, which would make sense given the popularity of that IP. I have to assume that the only reason the Tolkien family agreed to license the IP to WOTC is because Hasbro's lawyers were doing the negotiation. If Hasbro is eating the legal fees for that negotiation, that's already a major cost that wouldn't show up as a loss for WOTC. If Hasbro is also paying out the licensing fees, then WOTC's numbers only reflect the earning from card sales. I haven't looked deep enough into their reporting to confirm any of this, so this is all purely speculation on my part. But, these kinds of shenanigans are standard practice for other major corporations, and none of it is illegal as far as I know. Amazon has been offsetting the earnings from AWS with losses in other parts of the company, like Audible, for years now. They want most parts of the company to show losses so they can get tax breaks that offset massive earnings in other parts of the company. Hasbro doesn't have a lot of subsidiaries as far as I know, and they have fewer now that they sold off their movie subsidiary and other assets in the last couple of years, but I have an easier time believing that they are playing with their numbers than I do believing that everything they show is as it appears.

Hey Rudy You should talk about the use of AI generated Art in our favorite card broad games. Not sure if I been sleeping but I was at the prerelease for Bloom borrow… You should know all the basic land card in the set are the same within their own colors and the only thing that’s is changed is the background weather. Really hate these price swings on everything in the US - here in Canada there is no discount when the market goes down lcs keep their pricing the same until it goes up then they make it go up and it never comes back down to original price ever again - zero tendys in sealed here

RUDY!!!! The HASBRO management starting at the top "sand bagged" the estimates to ensure positive results. They need to be careful not to overly exceed, as investors really don't like sand bagging or non-predictable results.

i still don't think the digital world will see massive profits long term with digital cards. sure, people who actually play the game instead of collecting cards will want to play online, but automation and any automation wars already in play is going to drive us right back to the physical world. something else needs to happen before asking me to invest more digitally. but until i can toss a digital card like i could a physical one, the appeal isn't there. on another note, i was watching a group of people earlier play magic entirely from their slab collection. pretty funny.
