@@amyhill9127 exactly. Of course today's movies make more than the movie released in the 50's, or 70's, or 90's. We don't charge 50 cents now, we charge up to $50 bucks in some places. Adjusting to how many tickets sold, not the amount of dollars is the better way. They can still brag about how much cash they made, while refusing to pay their writers for it.

Avatar Way of the Water...ranks 3? I was following this the day it came out and feels like it was a conspiracy theory on on. There was glitches in the cinemas, there was loads of problems, some cinemas refuse to play it, others resorted in seat fillers to fill in the empty seats, misleading data handling, racism issues (culture appropriation) struggling to get a success, boycott, There was loads of delays, some countries refuse to have it, a court battle between James Cameron and China. I am glad it got to rank 3 somehow, since the earnings were hard to come by.....all that years of waiting and it got 2.3 billion....they needed 2billion to get a success and despite thier earnings, it has been said that very little profit came from it. I wonder what will happen to the others.

@timothygodwin7575 Жыл бұрын
If you don’t like titanic then you honestly didn’t look deep enough into the movie. Everything that James Cameron did in that movie was perfect. The way that he used storytelling to make the audience feel what it was like that night was perfect. The romance wasn’t cheesy at all. It was a way for the audience to feel the tragedy and loss that happened on the titanic. We needed to meet and fall in love with jack and rose so that we could feel a fraction of the loss that all those people felt that night. James Cameron did such an amazing job with that movie that honestly it should be considered the greatest storytelling in history. I have broken down this movie several times and I still haven’t peeled back all of the layers. There are so many things that James Cameron did to make the audience feel the heartbreak of that night. The most fascinating part is how he was able to do it in such a subtle way. You leave the movie feeling the same amount of loss and heartbreak as the passengers did and you don’t even realize why you feel that way. Like most people didn’t realize what created that connection between you and the actual passengers, you just end up feeling all of these emotions and don’t even know how he was able to make you feel that way. After breaking it down I started to notice what he actually did with the various scenes in order to create a part of that connection. When you put it all together you end up feeling the same pain as the passengers did because there are several different parts of the movie that created a small connection in a subtle way. On their own they don’t do much but when put together they make you feel what the passengers felt. I’m not going to give you a list of all the amazing ways James Cameron used storytelling to make the audience share the pain of the tragedy because that would take way to long. From what I’ve found the reason that so many people don’t like the movie is because they were to busy criticizing the movie to actually realize what was happened on screen. You were to busy talking about the cheesy romance to actually build the strong connection with jack and because of that you didn’t feel that loss like the passengers did. All the other things that you criticize about the movie have the same effect. You only watched the movie on a surface level and because of that you didn’t get the point or the sheer amazement of the movie at all. Titanic is not a lazy romance movie. It’s an amazing feat of engineering and storytelling. If you get caught up on the wrong things you end up missing the whole point and you also miss out on the true wonder that is the power of true storytelling. Titanic is a one of the best movies ever created because of how he used storytelling to build a true connection to the real event. We will probably never see a movie in the same league as titanic ever again. They used real effects and old school Hollywood magic a long with computer graphics that gives the movie a real tangibility but nowadays it’s pretty much all done on a computer which takes away that realistic feel. They also used a really great form of storytelling that not only told the story but also subtly and subliminally created connections and bonds in your mind that you didn’t even realize where happening. The way he was able to manipulate the brain into forging an actual connection with the real event is unreal. I’m truly sorry that you missed out on that experience because you’ll likely never get the chance to experience that ever again.
@captainsquiggs Жыл бұрын
Titanic should be the ONLY one that had a successful run, as ticket prices were still cheap. Nowadays, tickets cost about $20, if not more. So, for every fifth ticket sold, it's already made another $100; regardless if the movie sucked. That's why bombs could still make a ton of money.

Endgame should have kept the top spot. It deserved it. It got released and earned the top spot. Avatar getting rereleased years after it premiered shouldn’t even count. Endgame earned the title of highest grossing film. Rereleasing avatar to get the top spot back is cheating in my book. They should rerelease endgame so that it can take its rightful place back. I hate the movie avatar. I watched 4 times in theaters. The first time was my choice the other three times I was pretty much forced to go. I hated it every single time I had to sit through it. It is one of the worst movies I have ever watched so I honestly don’t get how it became the highest grossing film, I don’t think it deserves that title and the fact that they rereleased it just to steal that spot back from endgame makes it even more awful. I will never ever consider that movie the highest grossing. I will always consider endgame the highest grossing film because it earned that spot during its original release and didn’t need to be rereleased to get that title. You can make the worst movie in the world the highest grossing film if you cheat. Just take a horrible movie and rerelease it every year and eventually it will be the highest grossing film and that’s exactly what they did with avatar. They lost the top spot and then decided to rerelease it just to steal the spot back. It didn’t earn it on its original premiere date so it shouldn’t even count. Even if you like the movie avatar you have to admit that it was unfair to steal that title away from endgame like that. Avatar had years as the highest grossing film, when endgame came along it beat avatar and it should have stayed that way. Fair is fair. Endgame should have been able to keep that title until a new movie came out that surpassed it. I could sit here and type all day long about the idiotic injustice that was done to endgame. You shouldn’t be able to just rerelease a movie just so you can keep the top spot. It wouldn’t bother me as much if they had a good reason to rerelease the movie but they didn’t, they literally rereleased avatar just so they could keep the top spot. If endgame hadn’t surpassed avatar then I guarantee you they wouldn’t have released it but as soon as endgame came out on top they rereleased avatar just to steal the title back. They couldn’t even let endgame hold the title for more than a few months for god’s sake! A film should get that title based on its merits not based on cheating. Avatar had its time, it was endgames turn. Rereleases shouldn’t count towards the films gross earnings, especially if they are rereleasing it years after it premiered. Like, if they rereleased it within the same year or so then that would be one thing but after 2 years then the gross earnings should be locked in and unchangeable no matter how many times you release it. Just add another section to the gross earnings that says “the film grossed this much and when it got rereleased it also grossed an extra $$$” like it’s fine to mention that it grossed extra during a rerelease but it shouldn’t be added to the original gross earnings. Once the film leaves theaters then that should be its gross earnings, period. I know endgame also got rereleased but that was only a couple months after it’s original release date and that was with some extra bonus content. If the movie is good enough for people to come and see it at the theaters again during a rerelease even though it just came out a couple months ago then that’s impressive and should count towards gross earnings because they just saw the movie and decided it was so good that they want to see it again but if it’s been years since the original release then it shouldn’t count because it’s been years since people saw it in theaters so of course they would go see it again. Even a mediocre movie is worth a second watch if you haven’t seen it in years but it takes a great movie to be worth a second theater watch even though you just saw a couple months ago. Honestly I think I could earn my doctorate degree on this subject because there are so many things I could say about this ridiculous affair.

@@garycarpenter2980 a movie should be more than special effects. You can have a movie without special effects, you can’t have one without storytelling. That movie just wasn’t interesting at all to me. I consider james Cameron one of the best directors and storytellers to have ever lived which is why i was so shocked at how bad that movie was. After 4 watches I should have enjoyed at least a few minutes of the movie but i didn’t enjoy any of it. None of it excited me, none of it interested me and the story itself was just bad in my opinion. I like most movies, i can enjoy almost all of them. I enjoy the great ones and i even enjoy the ones most people hate. It’s not hard for a movie to be enjoyable to me at all. The fact that i found avatar so awful says a lot about how bad it was. The truth is nobody has bad tastes in movies. If you like a movie and you really enjoy it then that’s all that matters. Even if everyone hates it as long as you like it then it’s a good movie. I just hate that movie and i don’t think it deserves to be the highest grossing film. I think it achieved that simply because of the graphics instead of the storytelling. I think storytelling is the backbone of a movie so that’s what it should be judged on in my opinion.

Rey is a self-insert Mary Sue of Kennedy herself, and the world knows it. She wrecked the Franchise and gas light all of us fans claiming "..we had nothing to go on..." Lastly.. no. Avatar is garbage. It was a rip off of *_Dances With Wolves_* as well as a rip off of an obscure sci-fi novel ( *_Call Me Joe_* ) that actually was much better written. James Cameron did nothing original, except pander to the worst mentalities of certain people as to how a "white savior" is a good idea.

1:36 I never understood why they did Iron Spider - at least the way they did. The suit (at least when not wearing a mask) clearly is just a fabric with rubber coating, and the whole nanoparticle storage & assembly of that and the later Iron Man suits went from willing suspension of disbelief to ludicrous - they might as well have said it was magic.
