That leak is the only reason people are upset. People’s expectations got way too high because that leak gave them hope that all the characters they wanted would be in the game, in spite of all evidence to the contrary. I didn’t check out the leak before the Direct, so my hype wasn’t ruined. On another note, give Sakurai a break. He got every fighter from past games into Smash Ultimate, and also a few highly-requested characters like Ridley, Simon Belmont, and King K. Rool. Sakurai has done enough, and he knows it- hence why he added Piranha Plant as a fighter. tldr: You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

The World Over Heaven my hype wasn’t ruined tbh, i was actually hyped to see incineroar, and my god i swear to god that i never gotten so much chills and all because of world of light and lifelight. But that’s me, and the rest who are upset, to me, are 50/50 right. Like having isaac and shadow revealed as assist trophies THIS late was not right, with Shadow having so much hype moving leaks aside. But they are also wrong for trusting leaks soo yea, honestly 50/50.

It's a big reason but not the only one. Ken/Incineroar was being rumoured before the grinch hoax appeared, and it lined up with box theory. People generally didn't want those two to be the last characters (barring dlc). After getting the likes of Ridley, Simon, and K. Rool, these two were thought to be a relatively weak pair to end on. People wanted some similiarly exciting character reveals for this final direct. Going into the direct I was prepared for the grinch leak to be fake due to the increasing amount of people with insider knowledge appearing to bluntly dismiss it. However, despite keeping my expectations in check on that front I was surprised that Ken/Incineroar was truly it, and was bummed out as a result. To be clear though I'm not really upset anymore- the roster is stellar, but ending it like this left a bad taste in my mouth at the time. I think they should have revealed this game's newcomers in a different order...

Master Hand is Sakurai, developing games. The rest of them are his team and shit. As the universe came to an end, thus was the last smash game and Sakurai's passion but Kirby survived; Kirby was Sakurai's original creation and he'd hate to let someone else develop his work. This analogy represents the development team and the fans. The ending represents a canceling of the game or the end of working on it, and the fans are represented by the clones, who have to remake games or design fan games. It could also mean other developers coming on board, and changing his game. And as Kirby saved the smash verse, so did he save Sakurai's passion itself. It's also important to mention, the clones not only represent what I stated above, but I also believe more intensely that they also represent fans who have lost interest in the game just as Sakurai did. The "undying light" as mentioned in the new song released in the direct is the passion for the game, being reignited by you guessed it, Ultimate. It's as much as a cry for the passion of its fans, as much as it is for Sakurai, feeling more passionate himself. (Also, htf did this get like 200 likes...cool, I guess. I'm also going to say thanks like every other comment does when they see a little flame of popularity. I really recommend reading this and just rethinking about the direct when you watch it.)

The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Piranha Plant’s Backstory: An Average Piranha Plant was minding its own business, trapped in the Mario games not to be found in any other games, was sick of staying in the same place all the time. He then found an article about the Smash Bros Ultimate tryouts. Destined to be a fighter, he used his.....leaf arms.....to hover to the designated place. As he hopped inside, he saw dry bowser become a legend level spirit (Which was pretty much what he was Anyways), Spring Man swapping from a fighter to an assist trophy, and Ridley (finally) becoming a fighter. When the Piranha Plant made it to Sakurai, he discussed all his attacks, including his Smash move. Sakurai accepted, but he said he would have to learn all of those moves. That’s when the Piranha Plant trained long and hard, which would make him the best Piranha Plant to be in Bowser’s army. He was even able to take down Mario (At Smash). He can now transform into Petey Piranha, and he was accepted into Smash. That’s how the Piranha Plant got into Smash bros, and I wasted my time making this comment.
