Alpharex Pro Series Headlight Install On The 5th Gen Toyota 4runner

Got some new Alpharex Pro Series headlights for the 4runner. I'll take you guys through the removal and installation process. If you are interested in getting new headlights for your 4runner check out this video. Let me know what you guys think down in the comments!!

Great Video! One thing for future - don’t use the screwdriver to pop the plastic pieces out. They are meant to come out super easy if you depress the button in the middle of each one. :)

Can you explain how you cleaned up the wiring? Not sure where the entrance lengths should go... Also is it the spare 10 fuse that I grab or a specific one??

Great video!!👍🏻 about the plastic cover on passenger side, If you notice inside fender cover has slits toward the front behind the fog light and they are there so your front passenger side tire can force air inside the fender while rotating for intake manifold to get more air which is on the passenger side. while your tire is rotating. It can pickup little rocks and possibly damage the foglight housing while you are on highway 🛣 So that plastic cover is there to protect it.

This was super helpful. Fuse is the 10aINJ fuse. Also just curious, what is the extra yellow wire that was left over? For older 5th gens

How do you like them I just order the pro series for the 2013 Chevy Silverado and also got the upgrade for the low beams for the LEDs I forget the name of the leds trd12,,,, something something how are the brightness on them and have you upgraded the high brands yet cause there halogen right on the pro series I almost got the lux series but having to send them in if bulb blows out that was the deal breaker for me it’s really not the hard to swap bulbs

Looks nice. Can you still turn them off like the stock DRLs? It's a deal-breaker for me. I like being able to turn off all of the lights and chill in the parking lot with the engine on...😆

Great question...so the DRLs can be turned off like normal. Only problem is the LED strip on the top that controls the Sequential Turn Signal, stays on the whole time. Even if the head lights are completely off. You won't be fully "stealth mode".

You can tap it into the low beam fuse. So it turns on and off with your low beam.

Mine are inverted… my halogens are on the inside (closer to the grill) and LEDs on the outside (closer to the side panels). Been trying to figure out how to change the LED High beams… bought the car preowned… and my high beams are out. 😅

I have a 2017 Sr5 with that passenger fog light cover. It's to prevent moisture from some engine component that is only on the passenger side that would create moisture I can't remember what it was

So if the low beam bulb burns out, you'll have to pull the bumper to change the bulb. That's a bit of a big flaw.

With these after market headlights, what happens when one of the bulbs burns out? Do you have to buy the whole headlight unit again? Or are the bulbs replaceable?

No, the bulbs are replaceable. It's just a pain cuz you have to remove stuff in order to get to the bulb covers. But they can be swapped.

I kept the bulbs that came with the Alpharex ones. They are good. A bit brighter then OEM, but the cut off is more crisp. I think they project a bit further as well.

It's a 10 Amp fuse, in the front. Not sure what it's labeled, I'd have to look. I watched the video off of Alpharex website. I'll get back to ya.

It gets wired up under the hood. There is a red wire you connect that works those I believe.

question for ya. I am currently running grill lights in addition to the alpha pros. I have my grill lights tapped into the 10 inj fuse, so I am trying to find an alternative to tap the headlights into. I tried throwing the headlight tap into a 10 above the inj, but the led lightbar does not activate until I have the steering column switch set past the DRL, before the headlights. Additionall, the drl setting currently engages the hi beams, but at limited power? Any pointers or advice?

That's a new one for me. You might have to tap into a different fuse. Maybe one with constant power or one that works like the one you have the grill lights tapped into. Maybe even swap yhe grill lights fuse for a constant power one. And I'm not too sure about the DRL situation. Might be because of power problem. Might have to reach out to Alpharex on that one. Hope that helps!

You can tap it into your low beam fuse which is also a 10AMP, it’s labeled LOW L/B R/B or something. Refer to the fuse box cover for the location. It’ll turn the DRL off and on along with your low beam.

None! I haven't had any issues with these head lights. Great quality! Hope that helped.

If I put in LEDs from the jump, what is your best guess on how long LED's would last before needing replacement because having to remove bumper to change bulbs sucks

LEDs will last for quite a while. Depending on quality and brand, it could last years.

The ones I got are not for that year of 5th gen. But if you go to thier website, they have ones for 2010-2013 5th gens. Hope that helped!
