The FAA has always been a stumbling block for SpaceX! Not so much for all the other space companies! Funny!

SpaceX did not need a permit for each individual Starship launch. Only a mishap outside the scope of planned outcomes or a significant change in vehicle design or mission profile requires FAA approval. Right now Starship Block 2 is a significant change to the vehicle and they are awaiting approval. They could have gone straight to another Block 1 launch but they decided to go with Block 2. It really is frustrating to see the FAA get involved and cause problems for everyone when they're really not helping in any meaningful way.

B.O. is off its rocker. SpaceX is ready for flight 7 and hasn't achieved orbit. How does B.O. think they have even a remote chance of orbit on the first try? They are using old and outdated design methods. This is similar to designing a Model-T in the age of supercars such as Starship. The entire first flight will be a disaster because they are setting completely unrealistic goals. With their outdated design philosophy I don't see how this is justified at all.

I think that Blue is doomed already. If the falcon heavy already surpasses the lift of new Glenn and starship quickly on its heels, i dont see a market that will work for Blue origin without their usual lawsuit playbook
@dorbie
@dorbie Сағат бұрын
They'll get some fraction of the %5.6B NSSL contracts. It's probably difficult to compete on cost with SpaceX although comparing to Falcon Heavy there might be a niche there. TBD. Starship will crush everything but remember there's really no large cargo design for Starship yet. Initially it's a Starlink PEZ dispenser, tanker, and HLS. They're gonna need payload doors etc, and all that is still on the drawing board. Their plate is full enough that it could take a few years, during which New Glenn will get a brief reprieve. BO and everyone else will eventually need a refurbishable 2nd stage to compete. It'll be exciting to watch. Bezos has deep pockets and BO seems to finally be making some progress with his more active involvement.

By putting a ride share program that Falcon has would bring the cost even lower. Given the turn around time from launch to recovery is less than a month those that build satellites could have a problem keeping up.

Blue Origin is fighting the last war... Falcon soon either retired or used for a pickup truck... Elon can redesign Falcon now with Starship type upgrades, and still kick Jeffie's aft end... And Jeffie ain't going nowhere with Spaghetti Monster engines.

Blue Origin latest schedule: 4th of July !!! 3 2 1 BOOOOMMM! (1st launches are tough, design for a decade or design - make - scrap - design - make - launch - design - scrap - design - make launch etc etc 10 times in 2 years All of these teams have no previous experience, success takes about 10 design cycles, no matter how long it takes - if a team changes out 50% (like if you have 30% funding for a year) then you add more cycles. SpaceX is growing capacity at a spectacular rate.

It's so unfortunate if the BO~Glenn is not going for "LIFT-OFF." Wht a waste of time and money. Wht wld NASA thinks❓️as they're relying on BO to launch very soon. It appears tht Falcon 7 fr SPACEX will soon zoom, zoom and zoom. Thank U

there is never an optimal launch, not from any system. so what's the issue with BO? are using boeing's launch philosophy? if it bothers bezos to "waste" NASA money on a non-optimal launch, gather good data, and build subsequent vehicles better (like Space-X), then he should use his own vast resources to do so. it makes more sense if he is afraid to shown the world just how unprepared his system is and how much he has lied about its abilities. BO is nowhere near Space-X. comparing the two is like preparing a cub scout troop to navy seals...

@@alanharmon9970 well the point is who will be first to actually be able to carry out missions rather than how they got there. Vulcan was behind Starship until it actually proved operational on its first launch and is now an operational launch system, as indeed is SLS so arguably now ahead of a platform that has yet to reach its own goals of being usable, let alone reusable. So if getting it right on your first or perhaps second launch to become an active platform surely that puts you ahead of a platform that has launched 6 or 7 times but has only launched a banana into space and even that didn’t survive the process. Depends on your perspective but if Blue Origin launches and proves successful first time out and lands its first stage arguably it’s level or ahead. Whether you fire off a lot to get to a reliable rocket or take longer to get it right first or second times isn’t really the point as spectacular as the former is to watch. But in the end it’s as and when both get to usability and what they offer when they do in the market place that will be the vital factor which assuming they actually get there is where Space X on paper has a big advantage but a lot of speculation to be proven in practice as yet for all the companies involved. I rather wonder if Rocket Lab get their rocket working reliably without having to take 10+ launches to do it, then they will be a very big player in this space as grand schemes that suit Starship isn’t necessarily be the bread and butter of this industry in reality. Time will tell.
