I know I'm on the right path when I'm already following the form tips from one of Brian's videos. That bench unracking tip though, that was new, and I dig it.

#1: Don't rupture a disc in your neck causing you to need surgery. Then still a few years after the nerves are still damaged so the brain can't send great signals to your left arm. #2: Everything else Brian says because let's face it, he knows his stuff

@boom-bm1kl

@@BrianAlsruheOfficial wait for it... Getting into position during my warmup bench . Getting my upper back contracted and tight in the process, turned my head a little bit and pop. It felt like electricity went down my arm. Didn't really hurt though. I honestly thought I just pinched a nerve pretty bad. Nowhere near your level but not long before that I hit a 400 bench being a natty vegan. Wanted to get to 405. I'm hovering around 335 now 😭 In between that I ruptured my bicep tendon carrying a kitchen table, caught some lung fungus from dirt that literally only killed me, and had a spinal fusion about 10 years ago and 2 other back surgeries. I'm 43 and will never give up! Side note: I've been following your videos for a long time and recommend them to people. They're full of knowledge and help with inspiration. Keep up the good work and thanks for asking!

Too late. I injured my neck diving in a river and damaged my nerves on the left side. I was pushing 340lbs before. Now I'm pressing 190 lbs. Hoping to recover more strength in the long run.

WHAT IS HAPPENING! sup Brian thanks for the video! I'v got a question- I'm 205 been lifting for 16 years with good diet training and rest/recovery- I'm sitting around 415 bench. I don't really want to get much bigger. Do you think there is a natural bench limit for normal people? pretty much been stuck in the 405-415 range since 2023- I hit it hard changed frequency even up to 5 days a week using 80-85% for 5 total reps. Lots of volume lots of variations.

Thanks for the support man! I think a double bodyweight bench is a great mark that most people will never have the dedication to hit but much depends on your genetics. That said, I would have to see your form because if there is something that could be improved then you can absolutely move up further than you are. But amazing job brother!

Hey Brian! I have a question for gaining strength on bench, should i stick to benching once a week and do my heavy sets then back down higher reps on same day, or train bench twice a week one heavy day plus maybe assistance stuff and one lighter higher rep day? Thanks.

Any tips for improving leg drive on push press? I've got a buddy who I strict press more than but who gets at least 50lbs more out of his legs than I do.

Something that helped my push press was changing the angle of my feet. I used to have my toes straight ahead, but now I angle them out slightly and it helped make my leg drive feel more natural. Try experimenting with your foot placement, as well as stance width.

All of these are great, but I would look at them as the easy part. The hard part of pressing is becoming a bigger meat sack. If my meat is bigger then I'm gonna pass all the little tekneekier meats at some point any way. You can immediately get pounds on squats or deadlifts with technical improvements because the legs already have meat. With presses, outside of the basics you just mentioned technique isn't going to get you nearly as far. Imagine if your pecs, and shoulders were glute sized, and your arms were leg sized... You could press anything. And if you had a back that was as big as 3 backs mashed into one you would just be disrespectfully strong all the way around.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial

I don’t think most people have that goal. And strength is a skill. I it’s my contention that technique is king
@leinekenugelvondoofenfocke1002
@leinekenugelvondoofenfocke1002 4 ай бұрын
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial I agree, and bigger muscles is a God. That's why Eddie Hall can strict press everyone's max push press. I think both together is the ideal. I'm just saying mass gets you further than skill when it comes to pressing in most cases. Then to be honest if your technique is just passable, and consistent enough, you can get stronger at it by doing the damn work. If you do find something technical that gets you to the next 5 pounds, you can only hit that switch once, and you got stronger by making it easier to move the bigger weight. So you then still have to do the damn work, and then if you really want it you gotta do some shit to get bigger afterwards, because you get stuck, by not having bigger muscles to keep going forward. I think the way you emphasize stability, is extremely productive, but hypertrophy is just part of it that needs more love.
