Alphaville - Big in Japan (instrumental)cover

This is my take on Big in Japan by Alphaville. It's a cover version and made purely for fun as fanart. I tried to recreate it as close as possible to the original, using only what gear I have available. Some hardware synths and some software. I hope you like it. Enjoy!

Another gem! These tracks prompted me to make some vocal recordings for fun (in "fallen angel" - I made 8 voices(!)). I only would wish that "Lies" would be without backing vocals.

What was the most difficult track to recreated for you from the Album? The easiest was I suppose Lies. I'm I right? Btw. I love your work I'm really fan of your work you're certainly the most accurate of all in recreating AV songs. Hello! J'espère que vous aurez aisément une traduction en anglais ! Je suis du sud de la France . Votre reprise est incroyable dans la texture restituée des sons énormes d'Alphaville 🎵🎹🎶, qui était avecTalk Talk mon groupe adoré et inatteignable des eighties en tant que claviériste à l'époque ! Êtes-vous musicien pro ? J'ai jamais voulu jouer leurs titres car je jugeais leurs sons comme venant d'un autre monde technologique, étranger à mes moyens disponibles... Je jouais sur un Korg M1, Roland W30/Juno106, Emu Proteus , Sampler Akaï , etc... Leur travail était tellement nouveau, original et unique dans la modernité du son 💫! Je ne savais pas quels étaient les instruments à leur disposition... J'entendais parler de synthés inaccessibles comme le Fairlight , le Synclavier... mais pour Alphaville, qui venait d'Allemagne , je ne savais pas d'où venait leur matière sonore... qui me rappelait un peu le génie de Trevor Horn avec Yes par exemple... En écoutant votre travail, qui s'approche si près de leurs compositions , je me dis que vous savez sans doute quels synthés ils utilisaient ? Après, 40 ans plus tard , comment faites-vous ? Vous possédez ces mêmes instruments ? Pardon pour ma curiosité d'ancien musicien pro ! Mais au moins, en savoir plus pourrait soulager ma frustration de l'époque de trouver ces musiques tellement élevées et précieuses , mais hors de mes moyens techniques ! Allo Alain! Thank you for stopping by on my channel :) It's a long story, going back to 84, when these 3 mysterious guys from Germany triggered the start of my musical journey. I agree, there is something special about this sound. It's not easy to say exactly what it is, it's the sum of many parts. I am not a professional, just crazy obsessed with synthesizers and figuring out how to do certain things. :) I do know most of what gear they used but I don't know where and how they used it. Well, after making these instrumentals, I have some clues :) AND I have gained even more respect for the craftsmanship behind these productions. You don't need the exact same instruments for this type of overall sound, but some individual sounds are very spesific to an instrument, or an effect. I have some of the instruments and some plugins. You come a long way with plugins of Jupiter-8, PPG, Linndrum and 808. With Talk Talk you can add an Oberheim Obx, if I remember correctly :)

@@Alain_Lacaze.6 no problem! I am from Norway. AVOL is in the making, as we speak :) I posted a teaser/update here on this channel just a few days ago. Yes, the 1st Harvest version is awesome! For now I am focusing on the Forever Young album versions. After that, we will see :) It's extremely time consuming to recreate these tracks. I can spend one full day just looking for one sound, and maybe end up not finding it, haha. It's really insane! I'm glad you enjoyed my version of BIJ. This is what motivates me to do it. I always wanted to hear the instrumentals but they're still unreleased, so I have to make them myself 😁 Btw, I have my own "synthpop" project if you are interested.
