Alpine DP-653 unboxing and first impressions

Looking forward to the T/S parameters. Are you also doing frequency response comparisons between the DP and HDZ on a baffle? Price wise the DP653 is AU$900-$1000, DP crossover is AU$150, the DP35-M is available separately at AU$300. HDZ 653 AU$1600-$1700. For comparison the Alpine R2-653 is AU$850, Morel 603A is $650, Hertz MPK 163.3 is $750-850

Yes, I will be comparing these two sets directly. I think that AU$ prices are super weird😬 In mainland Asia the prices are much lower. But thanks for the comparison👍

If it’s connected to the cone then it’s not a phase plug it’s just a pointed dust cap. To act as a phase plug it has to remain stationary as the cone moves around it.

Focal ps 165 v1 or alpine dp65? Which one is good in your opinion? Pls suggest

The focal PS is an entry level driver. Alpine DP is higher up the ladder.

Injust did some measurements yesterday, the midbass is ~90dB efficient.

This cone design with sealed dust cap is better, especially im asian countries where dust reaches even in deep areas odometer. Tweeters might be a dummer for this model. But overall they are better than status. Straight design , decent rms, more killer looks. Though heat dissipation flaw is a bad for alpine RnD .... But it might be less affecting on these ones since lower power handling

Very similar performance I would imagine. The difference is that Focals are 3ohm drivers, so can work better with smaller amplifiers.
