It’s amazing to think they were almost extinct at the turn of the last century, but a few sensible laws and the cooperation of the locals and they have a healthy population once more. There’s a few people on KZbin that I click on their videos as soon as I see they have posted, people like Paul Miguel and Simon Booth you are now one of those. I know you posted yesterday or the day before but I was in Northumberland watching my first dolphins. I'm a big believer in having a home patch and learning that home patch throughout the year. That way you can watch the marvels of nature economically and appreciate that local nature needs as much protection as exotic places. However, I really enjoy it when competent photographers such as yourself or Paul take us to places I'll never get to. You fieldcraft once again is brilliant as the results prove. Another incredible video, thank you for making it.

Thank you very much for that Mark 🙂 Being on the road for almost two years I definitely miss having my patch that I get to know, you learn so much about nature and wildlife by visiting the same place in different seasons.

Enjoyed your Marmot hunt Espen. Actually last weekend I went looking for some marmots here in the U.S. in an area where I had found them in the past. I was pretty bummed to not find any there, but I did find some Pika which made up for it. They are really shy also. Your video locations and videos are awesome. I always look forward to seeing the.🙂

Nice video again Espen! By the end of June, I will be in Austria (Carinthia-region, near Italian and Slovenia border) and the alpine marmots are on my list as well. So I take your tips and try to sneak up on them, if I can make it up the mountains, that is :). Any luck with birds in the Alps yet?
@EspenHelland5 жыл бұрын
Cheers William! That sounds like a great trip, the mountains are amazing you definitely need to make it up. Especially since you're from a flat country 😉 I've photographed small birds a bit, and I got to see some new ones I've never seen before. But I didn't spend the time looking for big birds of prey. I'm hoping to do a bit more of that in Spain next month 😁

A Nice watch Espen! I swear the microphone is picking up your heartbeat in the first couple of minutes of the video, on the steep hill. It looked like hard work. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing Video! Will you do a video about your Camera Settings or autofocus for birdphotography with the Canon 7d mk ii??
@EspenHelland5 жыл бұрын
Moratau thanks! Good idea, I've done a video on birds in flight where I cover a bit of settings. But will see what I can do. I like the idea of delving into the autofocusing 👍🏻

Love the last set of images. I was concerned about those ribbons tbh lol. Also it must be tricky trying to stalk an animal while also taking B-Roll and vlogging :p
@EspenHelland5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Zaber! Yes, it's definitely trickier when you have to try to film all of it! In this one I left the camera behind to film me stalking and I couldn't make my way back for quite some time and the battery ran out 😅

"This is marmet country so Im going to move quite slowly...." Yeaaaah, not sure you had another option given the altitude and slopes! I almost had a coronary just watching you! 😂
