Extraordinary circumstances. The course was shortened due to overnight snowfall. Normally the skiers would be into a rhythm by the time they reached the hundschopf, not pushing out of the start house.

Not really, it was Alpine Combined Downhill, they're always starting from here :D

1994 there were spectators on the left at the Hundschopf without a net.... OMG.. (see the video Lauberhorn 1994 William Besse)

Maybe yes.. but then, there's still all that rocks on the ground. I would prefer to hit that fence and bounce back than hitting something solid lying on the ground...

@@leobuckey You can bounce from the net back, I'd prefer that than hitting rocks sitting on the ground. Of course he had a lot more speed so he easilly jump over it, but not all skiers had the same speed. Especially in normal downhill here, where you have sharper turn before that turn in my opinion.
