Great and very honest review, Van! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! I fully agree with everything you said about these great boots. I used RST Pro boots 7 years ago, and I crashed with them. The side pivot point system on the boot was quite invasive and not well covered/protected, and it managed to crack my ankle when I was rolling like a barrel on the road for around 20-30 meters. I realised that legs are really important to be well protected cause they heal very slow if you break something, and it's very painful compared to broken hand for example. There are not many boots on the market that are CE 2-2-2 sertified, but since that accident I started to look way more seriously into safer boots that will protect you better in case of accident. I bought TCX RT Race 6 years ago, and they were very nice, comfortable and way more reinforced than the RST I had. Last week I decided to grab a new pair of boots cause to replace my TCX, and I went for Supertech R. As you said, I needed one size smaller tgan usual. Out of the box they are super comfortable, and very easy to walk with. The reinforcement deffo feels better on the Supertech compared to the TCX RT Race, and the ankle and lateral support is great. The only pair of boots that I tried with stronger support and more reinforcement is Dainese Axial D1 and the racing Daytona boots, but you just can't walk with them on the road, and your legs are like with plaster when you wear them. I hope the Supertech R will last as much as my TCX RT Race, and I hope that I will never have to try how good their protection is. :) To all the riders that are wondering if they shall buy such boots as Alpinestars Supertech R for the road - deffo YES!!! Protect your legs and heads as much as you can, cause accidents can be way more severe and complicated even at low speeds. If the bike lands on your leg during crash, thess boots will absorb more of the impact compared to CE 1-1-1 rated boots, and they may save your legs from wearing plaster later, and going trough long limping recovery... Ride safe all!

I appreciate all the videos on here very much.. but I must comment on sizing for this boot.. I take a EUR 42 or size 8 UK in a sneaker, also have had and ridden in SMX Plus, SMX 6 and Sidi ST's and now these Supertech R.. all were sized in EUR 42 or UK size 8 and the Supertechs fit excellently, just right for me, a little bit of toe space and are very comfy. I was worried about people saying these wear big and to buy the next size down, well I can say its not true for me. Bearing in mind people's feet can be wide and long and all shapes and sizes.. so just try before you buy.

@@chrisop4428 I hear you and certainly understand what you’re implying. The issue is that not everyone uses them (e.g. Rossi wears Dainese). So, I guess my question really is, if it wasn’t for sponsorships and brand deals, what boot would *every* pro use if they could choose? Would it be the supertechs?

I use the Supertech R and i have a very wide foot! Iam wearing a size 42 boot (should probably go with the 41) and the boot is not wide enough for me. it leads to discomfort and even pain (because the shoe is building up pressure on the outside of my foot where the plastic reinforcement of the inner shoe sits and meets the fabric). Can u recommend a top of the line race boot for people like me? thanks in advance :) ps. taking the sole out doesn't fix the problem

I had the same issue with the Supertech R. I ended up with Daytona Security Evos instead. Only slightly wider, but just enough that it works for me. Construction of the boot and materials are quite different from the A*, so I would recommend trying before buying.

What's up B - well man I think your sizing info is off, not Alpinestars. If a 46 in those boots is too big for you then you're not a 12US. I've been a 12US my whole adult life (I'm about the same age as you) and I wear a 12 in everything from flip-flops/house slippers to athletic/dress shoes/boots and everything in between. I also wear a 46 euro in everything including motorcycle boots and I have found that at least in the major brands like Alpinestars, Dainese, Sidi and TCX (I currently own a pair of all of these except Sidi) their conversion of a 46 to US sizing is within a half size of a 12 - Alpinestars and Sidi convert to 11.5US, Dainese to a 12.5US and TCX to a 12US. I will note that a 46 in Sidi boots fit me but the toe is too narrow - I tried a 47 and the toe width was good but I had major heel slippage because they were too long. Now you've said you wear a 12 in DC skate shoes but whenever you've showed them on camera they appear to be loosely fitting on your feet - so what size do you wear in athletic shoes like Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, etc., specifically the ones you wear at the gym or run/play ball in? I ask because an athletic shoe that you workout/play ball in must fit precisely or you stand a good chance of turning your ankle or blowing out your knee and at the very least they will be uncomfortable.

We have only sold hundreds (if not thousands) of these boots. This recommendation works for almost every rider and is based off years of first hand experience. Like I said in the video there are exceptions to every rule. The information I put out there is accurate. I have ridden in more boots, helmets, gloves, suits, etc... than any other retailer out there. That experience it used as a baseline for all of this. - Van
@gmoney43373 жыл бұрын
@@sportbiketrackgear ok B so did you follow up with those hundreds if not thousands of riders who bought these boots to be able to say "this recommendation works for almost EVERY rider?" Because I've bought gloves, jackets, etc., from you and no one ever followed up with me. All I can tell you is numbers don't lie, EVER - both of my feet MEASURE 11.5 inches from the back of my heel to the tip of my big toe and I wear a 12US and a 46 euro all day long across the board (including A* boots), even size 46 boots with no laces fit (no heel sliding). I tried on a 45 in the newest SMX-Plus and it did not fit - although I could get my foot in the boot with some prodding, it was very tight and uncomfortable, a 46 was perfect for what my feet MEASURE. So if a 46 in those boots are too big you're simply not a size 46 euro or size 12US, a quality company like A*s is not a whole size/size and a half off the mark (as PROVEN by my MEASUREMENTS) otherwise a size 46 would not fit me, I'd have the same problem you have and I don't. Like I said it looks like you wear regular shoes loosely or too big with them flip-flopping off your feet and you're trying to bring that sizing over to motorcycle boots and it just doesn't work, so again if you will, what size shoe (and brand) do you workout or play ball in, I see you failed to answer that question - or better yet why don't you actually MEASURE your feet instead of basing sizing off skate shoes (or any other shoes) and let us know what your feet MEASURE. Thanks and keep up the good work I'm just here to point out a few things you might want to tweak for accuracy...
@gmoney43373 жыл бұрын
@@sportbiketrackgear What's up Van - so did you actually measure your foot like I suggested or are you going to continue to misrepresent Alpinestars and spread misinformation? Because the information you're putting out there is in fact not accurate - Alpinestars sizing is based according to your MEASURED foot, not according to the size you wear in some other brand of crappy American shoes that aren't even motorcycle boots, which is comparing apples and oranges. If you measure your foot (from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe) you will find that not only does your foot not measure 12 inches like you think and have been led to believe by inaccurate American sizing, but that what it does measure will be spot on with Alpinestars' marked US size, or at least not nearly as off as you claim them to be. Alpinestars is more accurate than American sizing, which makes sense because the more accurate and precise they are the higher level of comfort and protection you will get from their boots and that's huge. Like I said I wear a 12US all day long in American shoes but my foot actually measures 11.5 inches and I wear a 46 (11.5US) in A* boots which fit me the exact same as a 12US American shoe/boot. So what does your foot actually measure? I'm curious and you should also want to save some frustration from customers who may measure their foot, find the matching size on the A*s sizing chart and then go down a size based on your advice which would end up in them getting boots that are a size too small. Oh and btw, you said you wear a 12US which would put you in a 47 in these boots, yet you had to go down TWO sizes to get a fit - A*s is not two sizes off, so this is a good indication that your foot doesn't actually measure 12". I don't know how you can claim that Alpinestars' sizing is off when you're not even following their sizing instructions with a foot measurement but instead are telling people to go down a size from whatever random pair of shoes they wear which makes ZERO sense.
