Alpinestars Tech Air 5 Review, MUST HAVE In motorcycle gear!

Bought this yesterday, was in a bad accident a few months back and wish I had it then because then the outcome would have been different. To you that think it's too expensive (because it is expensive) remember it can be really expensive riding without it as well. I had a highside and my injuries where severe so bad that me sitting here today is something that no doctor can explain. I had a flail chest (8 ribs broken into 3 pices on my right side), my scapula was broken in half, I had a collapsed lung, I got a frozen shoulder which requires a lot of rehab and will cost way more than the airbag vest. My right side is way smaller than my left side due to the impact today and the scapula grown together overlapping which leavs an enormous tension on my collarbone and constant pain, it also limits my ability to reach and do normal stuff. Since I love riding motorcycles I will not stop doing that even after this accident but I will always have the best protective gear availible for the situation when I ride. During the crash I wore full protective gear (everything other than an Airbag) and that probably saved my life.. with an airbag perhaps I would be looking a bit different than I do today. I’ve had mine for about three years, bought one of the first in the U.S. Last Fall I had a major highside, landed facedown on my shoulder and on top of my elbow. Ended up with a torn thumb ligament from snagging the handlebars and a minor concussion. Not even a bruise on my shoulder. It’s hot, a bit bulky, but I don’t go out without it.

I agree everyone should invest in a airvest/proper gear, I can justify the price itself but for the price for needing to get serviced I think that should be free or discounted for choosing their brand.

Thanks for this video. Finally seeing how it fits with jacket. Good stuff. Im buying mine very soon. My jacket is pretty tight but it is commpatible with this airbag so I Hope it fits good! Vest looks nice and thin so I think it will fit!! Totally worth it. Currently Im still recovering from a broken leg which Happened 4 months ago, I still cant walk with it haha so im now investing in full high quality gear. Good stuff

I have had this for about a year and a half and I think of this as insurance but for my body. The only downside to this jacket is that it's hot. It's pretty much unrideable over 75F. I only wear it below 70. The other downside is that it's very hard to clean. But I highly recommend it as well.

Also alpinestars makes hoodies that you can wear over this for a more casual ride. Probably Raven moto hoodie could work too.

Airbag vests save lives. While racing, a legally sanctioned race, my wife went down at over 150 mph. Her airbag vest deployed and outside of some bruising, she was fine. She was also wearing full leathers.

I dont trust electronic airbags because the streets are unpredictable it may go off at the wrong time. I prefer thether cord.

Does it immobilize your neck in the case of a crash? The Helite one I have right now does, but I don't like the aesthetics of it.

Yes it blows up around the collar bone. Making it much less likely that you snap your neck.
