From www.alpsoutdoorz.com: "The Commander X + Pack is a complete system for the multi day backcountry hunter. The combination of an internal frame meat hauling pack with a detachable 4000 cu in pack bag offers the ability to pack in gear to a spike camp and haul out meat when the task is completed. The Commander X frame has lashing system that incorporates a compressed wing system and a lower shelf to secure loads to the frame. The pack bag can then be reattached with a series of compression straps over the load. When the meat-hauling frame is not needed the pack bag attaches to the frame with zippers for a secure fit to the frame for a comfortable carry. The frame is comprised of dual aluminum stays with channeled high-density polyethylene frame for rigid carry."

I’m trying to decide between this and the badlands 2200. I will use on 4-6 day backcountry hunting trips. Your thoughts?
@SAHN
@SAHN 5 жыл бұрын
Honestly, you may want a slightly bigger pack for extended trips. I'd look at something more in the 4-5,000 range. Unless you're planning on packing light...

Can you made a video about your gear list you carry...I thought this was a External frame Backpack...now I am disappointed!
@SAHN
@SAHN 4 жыл бұрын
Friar Rodney Burnap We sure can! We’re no longer using this pack, but would be happy to offer any opinions or feedback from our experiences using this pack. If you’re dead set on an external frame pack, check out the F1 Mainframe from Eberlestock! That’s what we’re running now, and love them! They’re very customizable and have a smaller profile than the traditional frame packs from days past, which tended to be bulky and intrusive to active movement/activity. Feel free to reach out with any questions sahnoutdoors@gmail.com.

Anything you know of that's similar quality for like a long term bug out bag that would fit a sleeping system, tent, etc??

There are tons of options, from a lot of companies, for extended trip bags. You'd be surprised what you can haul with this bag. What's your budget?

Are you running a spotter in the pocket designed for it, if so what are you using if you don't mind me asking? I have this pack and I'm looking to get a spotter that will fit in the pocket.
@SAHN
@SAHN 6 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Caverly We haven’t. Our spotters have 80mm objectives, and they are a little too large to fit in the designed spotter pocket. We usually just keep them in the main compartment, along the side, with our other gear. I’d look for a 65mm spotter or slightly smaller.

Can you haul meat and use the pack at the same time? i.e. put an Elk quarter between the frame and the pack?

Yea you can.

Does having a rifle strapped to the bag as designed upset the balance or cause discomfort? Looks like it would place a lot of weight far away from the frame.
@SAHN
@SAHN 5 жыл бұрын
Michael Stelljes You’d definitely want to have some gear in the pack, and strap the rifle down tight. It’s not too bad.
@Runsincircles

Is the meat hauler webbing sewn into the frame or is it detachable? I.E., if I was looking to reduce weight on this pack could I remove it without compromising the integrity of the frame? Thanks!
@SAHN
@SAHN 6 жыл бұрын
Justin Jay The webbing is sewn into the frame, but the female buckle is connected at this point. The compression straps, with male buckles, can easily be removed. In our opinion, having these straps attached, in the event they’re needed, is worth any extra ounces they may add!

Being 6ft 7"... could it adjust to fit tall guys?
@McCadeCox
@McCadeCox 4 жыл бұрын
I guess it all depends on how long your torso is and where you like your pack to ride. I believe that it is adjustable enough to fit. I'm 6'-3".

Could i put a gun Scabbard between the frame and the pack so that i could carry a short barrled shotgun?
@SAHN
@SAHN 7 жыл бұрын
Aron Cahill - Most likely no, but we’ll have to try it out! Another solid option, if you don’t want to use the rifle boot setup provided, is to put the butt of your shotgun/rifle in one of the large stretch pockets on the side. Then you can use the two compression straps to help secure it to the pack. That location/method worked great for us on an elk hunt!

@aroncahill2219 7 жыл бұрын
Okay, I figured since the pack is designed to carry part of an animal between the frame and the pack, I would be able to shove my shotgun there, my shotgun is just under 27 inches long.
