In making "Already Over," I wrote and played all the instruments myself. But to play it live, I loved the idea of playing with a range of talented musicians who were all “locals.”
This is the first and only time we all played together.

If you watched the other video, some of the other musicians are a lot less experienced than Mike, Paul or Charles so things are arranged to make that work.

Mike said he played everything himself in the studio...there's no way he can handles any bass lines/riffs from Charles. Hence Charles played piano.

This isn’t a new thing. Session work has been around for many decades. During 2020, when there was nothing to do, I watched a lot of old session videos (mostly ones with Jeff Porcaro, who played on such a wide range of songs). There’s a pretty epic one with all 3 Porcaro brothers meeting Les Dudek. I think that one’s on Boz Scaggs’ Lido live video. They start at the studio and then play it live.

@@honusmom5144 , I meant musicians who are primarily recording session musicians, like Leland Sklar, Jim Keltner, Abe Laboriel, etc., who _can_ play anything with anyone. Abe recorded the drums on Jerry Cantrell’s album, Brighten, but didn’t tour the album. Those guys (and girls) who just do session work want to stay at home, not tour with particular bands.

Having learnt from Paul from his KZbin vids to seeing him here makes my heart warm. I mean, she can have whatever range and clean tones, but her voice sound like a goat (the literal animal, not the abbreviation) to me (not sure it this comparison is used in english, but in my language we would call this tone of voice bleating) Do you like her tone as well, or just the soul (whatever you meant by that) of her voice? Edit: or you meant the voice of the bassist doing the backing vocals? (e.g. 5:50) in that case, I like her voice too
