@Gyrbae7 жыл бұрын
That's kinda the point. They're just characters, puppets used to advertise the project that is Gorillaz. It's a genius way to get celebrity focused morons to pay attention to really good music with a cool side story to go along with it. People who actually care about music will delve deeper and discover the collaborators and original artists and get much more out of the experience. The people who only like it for the cool characters are still (in a way) paying for the records and giving exposure to the music , so it's a win-win situation for absolutely everyone.

Prices could climb to exorbitant amounts and I would still happily pay up. I thank the universe every day for Damon Albarn and Gorillaz. I hope he stays sober and alive. We've lost too many great musicians the last few years. I put this on after I heard about Chris Cornell. Couldn't stop crying. Strangest mix of grief and joy. In retrospect, Demon Days perfectly captured the cultural zeitgeist of the mid-2000’s. The lyrics allude to fears around climate change, consumerism, and the Iraq War. Despite the dark subject matter, the song ends with a cautiously optimistic tone. The gospel choir pleads that maybe it’s not too late, maybe we can still turn things around. Sadly, even all these years later, it still feels like we are living out our Demon Days.

This here, _this_ is the beauty and genius of this band. The more you look and the more you listen, the more it unfolds, _relinquishes_ itself to you. These two songs - vastly underrated masterpieces, imho - are perfect examples of this. I believe they're the two that _make_ the album, which is otherwise almost stifling in its pessimism. It's they that carry its true message - one of hope, of optimism and looking forward to better and happier days.
