The Porto Alegre metro is operated by the state-owned company Trensurb - created in 1980 and beginning operations in 1985.
Porto Alegre metro line 1 has 43.8 km, 22 stations and 40 trains divided into two fleets: series 100 and 200.
Series 200 was manufactured by Alstom Brazil between 2012 and 2014 in the city of São Paulo. It consists of 15 4-car trains, which entered service in 2014. The trains have free passage between cars, stainless steel box, bicycle racks, screens and air conditioning. Its gauge is 1,600 mm and the power supply is via direct current catenary. In this video, we see the series 200 (trains 229, 236, 237) operating on the rainy September 13, 2023.
Its front mask and box, as well as its traction sound (00:00), resemble those of the CPTM series 9000 (São Paulo), SuperVia series 4000 and 5000 (Rio de Janeiro). They are part of the Alstom Metropolis family, which also includes the F and G fleets of the São Paulo subway, 2070 of CPTM, 2000 of the Federal District subway (Brasília) and 8900 of ViaMobilidade (São Paulo).
