There doesn't appear to be any vent holes so if you mount a fan to the bottom there is no place for the air to go. And of course no way to mount the Sata SSD as pointed out in the video. A bit cheesy.

You need to configure your lan devices. Go to Luci > Network > Interfaces > Devices then configure each lan device

You can find the old tutorial on my channel “install openwrt on hard drive”. You need to boot up the PC with a Linux USB, after that use dd to writr OpenWRT image to the SSD

Or else, use a USB to SATA adapter and connect your SSD to the computer. And them use Rufus to flash it.

sure, just don't expect to also run a heavy Linux gfx gui too... something very light to also run 'tdarr' Intel hw encoding + pihole+unbound/omv/openwrt on proxmox with 8/16meg ram might or Not be pushing it... needs testing. mainstream £100/£150 5 port 2.5Gb/s dumb 'switch's can't do the above, so its a DIY win even if you just x86/64 openwrt single purpose these or the 6 port versions I just noticed -oc you can't add the New 5Gb/s dual/quad pcie cards to this motherboard as it doesn't have an active x4+ pcie slot-

BTW I hope yours had the thermal paste properly applied - you'll know cause it gets rather warm all round if it's fitted well 😀In my case 9-12w for the same device with nvme + sata.

Yes, you are right. The CPU temp is around 45 - 50 degree Celsius while the NVMe drive is up to 65 without the cooling fan. I added a 40mm 4 pins fan but it always spin at full speed.

@@VanTechCorner I got the 7105 Pentium it's 18w and even more hot I also ended up adding an auxiliary fan to that and just waiting on some other bits / bobs after which I can send you a photo

Is there a typo, I can't find the 7105 CPU ...I also asked the seller on taobao, they said will check with their technical team if they can have a fix on the BIOS for the fan control. But it will take time.

I see. It has less cores but higher clock compare to N5105. I also added a USB fan on top of the case and I can see the both the CPU temp & NVMe drive temp reduced a lot.

@@VanTechCorner when connect Huawei E5785 to my laptop using usb cable , i get the internet in laptop .. but connect in my GL Inet Opal look like not detect any usb driver .. i am use same usb cable connect to laptop and GL inet opal .. change another usb cable also get same situation ..

? go to the default gl-inet router 192.168.8.1 & then connect it wirelessly to the mifi huawei E5785 , anything then connected to the gl-inet router wired or wireless will then use the mifi huawei E5785 wan in this case

It is weird, are you on the latest firmware. By default USB tethering had been configured on GL-iNet router. If you are using an OpenWRT build (doesn't have GL-iNet dashboard), you need to follow this guide to configure it kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIjIlpethK6SrK8

I'm wondering if you ever come across these cases as cheap empty units ? put a 1 to 5 sata expander in there with 5 connected 2.5 drives & 5v 5a power to then stack under the N5105 box & add a single esata cable

If you install the 2.5 inch SSD on the base (bottom plate), you can't install the 4x4cm fan. If you are purchasing from taobao/aliexpress, there are plenty of x86 system which were built to use as a NAS. It comes with 4, 6 or even 8 HDD bays. One of the popular model is J1900 + 4 HDD bays.
