Cool i thought for my elo of 2000 on lichess that would be too easy for me, but i guess its still much useful and not only for total beginners. I might getting this too

Nice review. Although I'm well above this books rating range I am always trying to introduce family to chess. Would this books vocabulary and structure be suitable for a 10year old? I love giving beginner chess books and scholastic quality sets to family, most children. Early on I utilized the ~2hrs of my commute reading chess books. One of the benefits of the annotation with diagrams only after every ~5 moves is that it forced me to mentally visualize the positions in between the diagrams. This included non-diagrammed positions/move orders that were blunders. I had to mentaly visualize why move order ABC was correct and why BCA and CAB lost material.

I found this book to be relatively easy to understand, no difficult language, and the images are very clear as well!

I have just watched this video, and went on line and ordered a copy of the book for myself. Unfortunately it’s substantially more expensive here in Australia AUD$60.

Botvinnik said … ‘To know Capablanca games is to know the pleasures of chess.’ So my original ‘97 print of H. Golombek Capa’s best games stands proudly on the shelf : ) 100 annotated, algebraic, stories, etc. Can’t argue with the Bot man - Must have collectible! ❤

Very nice review. Even for players above 1200 Elo, it is useful to read his explanations because it can help clarify concepts the player may have been a little fuzzy on. That's the advantage of having an IM, who is good with words, teach us little mortals.

Hey Al Su thanks for your videos, I love your reviews, really appreciate your work. I have a question about the library grandmaster chess set, would you recommend it to be your main analysis kind of chess and also a playable set, or would you prefer a full size tournament set, because I want to keep it in my computer desk where I work, - home office- and I think a full size might be a little big. It would be great if you make a comparison between a full size and the library, including de chessboards, cause you have done it only with the pieces, but I think that haven't seen it with the board. Again thanks for your videos, I really enjoy to watch them. Greetings from Mexico!

Thank you so much for watching! I think that's definitely a great video to do. I actually recently ordered a really nice analysis/travel chess set that will come by the end of the week and at that point I came mention board size comparisons.

Do you have a specific chess set you like to set up and use when you are reading a chess book?
@tominmo8865Ай бұрын
I like a small folding magnetic set, about 9 or 10 inches on a side when open. Very portable, and you can leave it set up at home because it takes up so little room. Also with small sets, you can see the whole board at once very easily.

Thank you! I really wanted to see, if it fits to my level! Definitely a good book even for people, who can beat 1600 Elo Bot, but not a 500 Elo person sometimes! So my Elo would be (because I am that person) from 500 to 1600 Elo so .... yeah. Thank you and Levi Rosman

To bet better at Chess I recommend A) Play a LOT of games, that means you will lose a lot too but that's okay. B) Find chess videos and books from experts like GothamChess C) Stay motivated and don't give up!

Thank you for this excellent review. I would love for you viewers to hear what you have to say about Susan Polgar's "Chess Tactics For Champions" book. I lost ten games in a row against a friend and became very discouraged. Then, after reading just a couple of chapters in her book, I beat.him badly in the next three games to the point where he didn't want to play me anymore for awhile!
