Budi, a lake that joins with the sea
In the Coastal Region of Southern Chile, there is an extensive lake. Its waters are salty and it is a rich habitat for numerous aquatic birds such as the black-necked swan. An ancient Mapuche population occupies the lakeside lands and the numerous islands of Lake Budi. Since pre-Hispanic times, these inhabitants have taken advantage of the aquatic resources of the lake and have cultivated the lands that the lake reveals when the water level drops.
