@@dawniebug784 Alt-J's clever nod to 'Assassin de la police' is a brilliant play on auditory illusions, echoing the cultural references from KRS-One's 'Sound of da Police.' It's like a musical homage to the misunderstood phrase, adding an intriguing layer to the song's depth. Alt-J's ability to weave cultural threads into their music is simply impressive!

This is how i described it: Like a gray foggy forest with tall pointy pine trees, the wind clears your nose and blows your hair away like wind in a storm. You are soaring above the grey forest in the cclouds like in the point of veiw of one of those sky birds eye veiws of those ature documentaries. It kinda of reminds you of those light gray mushrooms, that feel a little bit rubbery when you chew it but it's not a chewy rubbery. That but just with more air in your lungs. Fresh air. Im not good at explaining when there are too many thoughts and words that blow through my head like clouds😄🌌

For the people who are new to this song and think it's about heroin and love, it's not. This song is about fear and the adrenaline that ensues when you feel you are about to get punched. The bloodflood is the adrenaline, Mandela Boys is a gang in Common. CO-double-MON is a reference to Southampton Common, Joe's hometown, he once got beaten and mugged there. Bloodflood shares some lyrics with Fitzpleasure about Tralala; the novel's chapter 4 of Last Exit to Brooklyn by Hubert Selby Jr. About the prostitute who was group-raped. The pt.II lines draw upon the same violent and sexual tensions described in “Fitzpleasure”.

This music makes so much sense to me like taking LSD and having a cigarette alone on an empty balcony and noticing there is a crescent moon in the sky. Like a gray foggy forest with tall pointy pine trees, the wind clears your nose and blows your hair away like wind in a storm. Fresh air.

@fabricetromeur7075
@fabricetromeur7075 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely. It comes from the french group of rapper NTM, and their DJ (DJ Cutkiller) who misheard (on purpose ?) the sample "That's the sound of the police" from KRS-One in the 90's, changing it into "Assassin de la police". It became a cult classic in France and i'm sure Alt-J are aware of that, being British.

I don't know if this has been asked elsewhere, but do these songs thematically connect with fitzpleasure? the imagery of some murder in a common seems consistent throughout.
