I was literally sitting here remembering how much I love their style and sound, the melodic tidal wave of the whole album blows my mind now and when it came out, I had just split up with the love of my life and moved to another city and this album kept me alive through that time and many others over the years, the whole album was a masterpiece and takes me back to a time when I was finding out what growing up entails, she eventually came back into my life and moved in with me in aforementioned city, spent the last 12 years on and off because I ended up with an addiction I wasn’t able to kick until this march, we split up a couple weeks ago and after so long with someone being the center of my thoughts and worry’s for that long it’s like being back in that city alone with my thoughts to keep me company and alt j is once again keeping me inspired and alive through their musical mastery.

Only an Alt J intro to an album can be one of your favourite songs. I remember coming home from working at a pub in 2020, it was about 4 in the morning, I decided to put on some Alt J because I hadn’t heard much of them since 2016. I played this video and when I tell you I had an eargasm to Intro that’s an understatement. I felt like it was euphoric. I played it over and over again that night. For the following few months that song was in my ear everywhere I went. This started me on my journey of obsession with Alt J. Can’t wait to see them in Dublin May 23rd.

It is quite clear that they are professional trained musicians, from the way they hold their instruments to how they harmonize a capella. And they sound identical to their studio album. They are a pretty cool band. Really like the atmosphere they have created with their music.

im not really sure that matters... speaking from a nerd pespective, alt+j means nothing.. musically, this has nothing on people like john frusciante who can sing and or both sing properly.. people dont give cred to bands like "crippled black phoenix", which has a mix of "super" artists... so why praise this band? it can and has been done by other bands already.

Yep...they know chords and melodies very well..you can't' learn that on KZbin. This is college trained musicianship. Awesome music that isn't recycled horse shit from some desk jockey....it's called "music theory". I love this band for that.

i am so in love with these guys. SO in love. the way they can create the most simple sounding parts on all instruments that come together sounding so complex and beautiful. they know what they’re doing to the brain. and don’t even get me started on the talent lyrically. my god. just in love. his voice is like no other. and the drummer is deaf?? amazing. so amazing. i am a drummer and have a slightly deaf friend who drums as well, it’s all about the vibrations and the atmosphere. the relationships they must have to stay so intact. such a beautiful world they all created that i strive for in my music. ✨

Who can't love a guitarist doing hammer-ons with a roll of f****** electrical tape? Who can't love that surfmusic step down low tone bass tone on the LOI with the surf music feel to it near the end of the last song oh my God!! Very simple but yet so incredibly awesome the way they blend it into what they do point!

I know nothing about guitar playing, is there a reason they use the tape instead of something else and how would it normally be done? I'm very curious
@curlysshuffle1157
@curlysshuffle1157 3 жыл бұрын
Celeste I'm a 30-year player and the answer to that is yes and no kind of, the technique is called hammering on or hammering off there's two ways to do it most folks use the pic the edge of the pic or more commonly the ball of their middle or index finger however the tape roll was something new to me I haven't seen that done before it does change the dynamic of the sound of the hammer on itself if that helps, another thing many people do for slide guitar is use a glass or Steel thymball over a finger but a beer bottle with the label peeled off works just as well LOL
