Alta, Raipas - Memories of Big Salmon

Join Håkan and Mikael as they take you back in time to a memorable trip on the lower Alta River. This footage, filmed several years ago, captures their journey through the often-overlooked Raipas section. It was here, over 30 years ago, that Mikael first cast his line in this iconic big fish river. While the lower beat has changed over the years and the salmon are fewer and more threatened than ever, they remain big, broad, and hard-fighting. Despite low water and challenging August conditions, the “old dogs” demonstrated that persistence and experience still pay off.

It's very sad to think that your governments would risk losing such a magical river I can only dream of fishing there, but to think that it may be lost is most definitely a nightmare. I have watched Hakan's capture of the huge salmon in your video Two days at Steinfossen more than once for inspiration and really enjoy your fishing adventures. Please go easy on your good friend Hakan 😂

Hey Micke! Great video as usual. Just a small detail for history sake, it's not Stalin to blame for the appearance of pacific salmon in the Atlantic, as the idea came up after his death in 1953.

You are right! sorry for the misstake. The fish was introduced under 1960 and 1970 it was Chrusjtjovs that started it not Stalin - thanks!
