I see what you're saying in regards to the generic nature of the song, but it's all about how it translate to an acoustic performance. And not just the guitars, but also in Myles needing to alter his vocal delivery as well as creating a musical atmosphere that is beneficial to the song. This song translates very well on acoustic, and it also allows both guitarists to remain active throughout due to the overlapping chord progressions. Neither of them really get regulated to benign strumming.

I know what you mean, but they already came out with a couple solid albums of uplifting rock music I don't want to keep hearing the same stuff over and over again. A bands growth and change is natural and should happen, other wise it gets boring for not only the band members but the listeners as well.

Good song and quality, but why the hell do you always focus the singer ? That's why bassists or drummers are not known for their jobs, they are in the shadow of the singer, thanks to the tv always focusing the singer...Its very important okay but it would have been called Myles Kennedy if it was a solo project. Exactly, Rise Today is the first song I ever heard from Alter Bridge (Except from Metalingus because of Edge/Adam Copeland since I never knew that was AB) on a video of professional wrestling's most violent moments and now Alter Bridge are my favourite band and have been for many years, Rise Today brings back so many amazing memories for me.

I don't think it's one of their strongest songs either, but I think if they are aiming to interest more people in their music and promote themselves it's probably one of the more accessible songs they have, as opposed to their other more technical or badass songs. Also, I didn't think Addicted to Pain worked that well unplugged even though they pulled it off, so I think some songs like Rise Today that are more chord than riff based just translate better to acoustic as well.
