You're a brave person. We discovered the perils of makeup on Halloween when one of our tweens fronted... and also shaved off our beard. We're still a tad irritated with her for that one.

Daniel, I think you did a wonderful job, especially for a first attempt at a new look/technique. I would have loved to see a side by side comparison at the end. I know you were a little self-conscious about the whole thing but it really did look good. Maybe with a little practice you will feel adventurous enough to go out looking as masculine as you feel. Perhaps a drag king collab sometime in the future would be fun, I personally would love it, especially if they could make you look more like you do inside the headspace.

I'm a transguy and I can totally understand Daniels reaction at the end. Masculinising makeup never seems to work very well in my experience, it just ends up heightening the diffrences. What really can help to lessen body dysphoria (I don't know if Daniel experiences it, but it seems like it a bit) for me was having my binder (maybe not so practical for a system) and loose fitting, masculine clothes (sometimes a big sweater you can just throw on goes a looong way and I imagine it would still be pratical with switches etc?). And filling in the eyebrows actually looked great also! Sometimes I like to darken the hairs on my upper lip a bit with makeup, but that's just me. Anyways thanks for the video Daniel, I really relate to your energy :'D

Daniel, you can SLAY that makeup game! For contour, you could use something a bit more cool toned for a better shadow feel. Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder in 01 Sunlight would be a great contour for shade for your needs, if you ever wanted to play around with the idea some more. Thanks for the video, so impressed!

Oooh! This is an awesome suggestion. I’d been wondering if the only thing “off” was the color of the contour. If he tries this again we’ll have to check this out. -Wyn

You did look more masculine! I like the drag king collab idea too, but only if you feel good about it. If you do it again, maybe the brows should be drawn with lots of tiny strokes like hairs and not too neatly.

Also if this is gonna be your go-to makeup video location you'll need more even and bright lighting. Maybe either bounce light in on the darker side opposite the window or add a diffused light source on that side. Even the window side could use some brightening so we can see it all better. 💖

I'm so glad you are feeling a bit more confident on camera, or at least learning to embrace the discomfort, because you have a fantastic personality and presence about you and it is so refreshing to see. If you use a more cool toned contour it'll mimic natural shadows better! Warm tones are better for bronzing, not necessarily contouring.

Makeup or no makeup you're adorable and always a pleasure to visit. ☺ I normally have no patience for makeup tutorials since I can shower, get dressed, and do what passes for my makeup routine (moisturizer, mineral powder, and Aquaphor on my lips... I am beyond low maintenance) before any of these tutorials finish dabbing on their first coat of primer. And the contouring? I just can't. I made it all the way through yours though because not only were you very entertaining with your commentary, the amount of time you spent doing your face was way more in the realm of my reality anyway. And I appreciated that. So thank you. 😀

Daniel, you did great! I'm a rookie when it comes to contouring, so a shadow of ANY kind on my face makes me nervous af. So I either blend until it is unrecognizable or I wash it off; I can empathize with the immediate discomfort. You did a great job and, for what it's worth, your angles appeared genuinely more masculine. Congratulations on the invitation to speak at the conference, I'm sure you will all crush it!

Dude, you look good. I'll admit I had my doubts partway through. I don't contour, so I'm not used to the earlier stages of that kind of make up-which means the dark stuff looked kinda like dirt smudges. But it turned out really cool!

Im not a make up artist or anything but I am an artist A tip I have is that masculine faces tend to have more squared off features features placing emphasis to the jawline and just above the chin. And less of an arch in the brow you pretty much could fill it in entirely also accentuate your side burns as they lead down to the beginning of a beard if thats your thing.

You tried! I don't think many 19 year olds have really good makeup skills yet, so keep trying and practising :) How do you feel about facial hair? I don't know if you, Ed or any other male alters feel the dysphoria particularly hard, but you can get the facial hair version of a wig. Jenna Marbles got a glorious long beard and moustache combo that was made from real hair, and I think it just stuck on with eyelash glue. So it can be removed and used temporarily when a male is out, just like a binder (but less hurty on the body if worn for long periods). I'm a singular cis female but I have PCOS, and my facial hair is stuck at early pubescent teen boy level. Like come on, either go away and give me a feminine face or just give me a proper beard dammit! The EntitleDID to Life thing looks amazing. I'm glad there's the option of e-conferencing, both for people too far away to go to the event AND people who may not feel safe attending. Totally going to do the e-conference option for teacher PD and to support all the channels. I think if this goes well, then next year it could be expanded to include other mental health/coping mechanism/neurodivergent/trauma backgrounds - mostly because then people like Mr Chris from Special Books By Special Kids and Jenny Lawson from The Bloggess could be included. Or maybe I just need to find the "cool place" for people with my diagnoses to hang out. Probably on the internet.

Any time you're out the body already looks more masc! I think you did great, especially the brows. The secret is NOT to use foundation. Make the tails of the brows thicker and straight, don’t touch the front. Contour but in circular motions and don’t draw lines because it will look unnatural even if you blend it. Use a ashy brown that is very cool toned it will make a worlds difference.

The Entropy System I got these tricks from makeup and drawing experience together. If some of you are into art you can look up what makes a face look manly and what makes it look like a woman. Because at first you draw a generic head shape and from then on you sculpt it into either a woman or men’s head/face. There is a lot more to it than I originally wrote but I didn’t want to leave a long ass comment. This is probably too much work for something Daniel is never wanting to do again 😂 but it may spark his interest. Learning about facial anatomy while drawing has changed my makeup game completely!!
