It's funny how it works. My range is similar to his and those first two high notes are harder to hit than the last higher one for me. It's like the last one is using a different part of my voice that isn't tired from the singing up to that point

I can’t believe they played all my fav songs from P5, although I also really like Thanks Nobuo it doesn’t strike me as a “live song” as much. When I saw them in the spring I expected Wildfire/Atropos, but my favs were Zagreus, Dracul Gras, and Wax Wings and I was bummed I didn’t hear one of them. But not only that, it was the frickin debut performance for Wax Wings AND Dying Star which I didn’t expect to be a live song either, let alone the performances of some songs for the first time since 2014. I can’t wait to see them again already, they even have enough amazing material for a 3rd set. Anyway, THANK YOU for recording the whole song, especially also including the intro bits as those moments where they got to speak were so special.

Just a thought here, but for a band that so prevalently features highly technical instrumentation it might be that he's turning to take the focus off of himself to give it to his band mates. Could be totally off here, but that was my initial reaction.
@krisztianfugedi5910 Жыл бұрын
I'm no live sound engineer, but he does seem to stand slightly close to the drumkit as there's not enough place on the stage, and the cymbal bleed might come through the mic, further accentuated by compression. He also seems to have a supercardioid mic, which is good at rejecting from the sides, so maybe that's why.
@jackmurphy86966 ай бұрын
How does he figure out that tuning with all the chords and new intervals (because it's no longer strings going down in 4ths) without knowing any theory?

@TrevIEnt Жыл бұрын
They had a bassist. He quit touring so he's just a studio musician. Easier to just use backing tracks and keep the old bassist in the family, in a sense. It's a bit disappointing for live performances, but lots of bands these days decide that they don't even need a bass player.

It's a technically hard song to sing and that's a far stretch saying out of pitch big time....what's your point of reference, the album recording or Puddle of Mud covering Nirvana. Spencer killed it for first time live, by all rights no one thought he would even try to sing it live. Maybe you are just used to artists singing easier songs with less vocal gymnastics or backing tracks.
