Hi Dawn Michelle! WOW! While the original deck was gorgeous, I LOVE your version. IMO, I think your additions added alot more depth to the images. I have a question for you.....did you use the Distress Ink with a sponge applicator to shade/darken areas on the card AFTER you added the glued on text papers? It appears you did, but I don't think I saw this step. Also....the items you are calling tea bags....what are those? I'm confused about that. I want to do this project this fall/winter! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much, it was such a fun project to create! I did use distress ink on them, it stuck to the paper ok but when I brushed on the mod podge it smeared any that I had put on the actual card front. Still looked cool tho. They were actual tea bags, for about a month, I saved the bags I used to make my tea. Let them dry, dumped them out then unfolded them. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Dawn! I have watched this so many times! I finally got the deck in my hands! I’m so excited! Have u been using yours? When I showed my husband this video when your comparing the altered deck to the original. He told me make a list lol! He’s like u need Modge Podge lol! He bought me a nice paper cutter earlier in the year after I showed him your video! I still need to do Mystical Moments (will do after some practice) & my Druid Craft tarot…that shit is so good but never use cuz hurts my hands. @@DawnMichelleTarot Yeah it can get really bad with fumes like that…my Mom actually miscarried & had been in a room like you w/I think hers it was actually from some kind of paint but I can’t remember. It had something to do with getting ready like nesting…will do on the porch!

This is amazing! The alterations you did look like they were meant to be there all along. Amazing job, I've never altered a deck quite like this, but seeing how you did is really inspiring. Part of me wants to alter my Penny Dreadful deck in some way, as the modern artwork and colors just don't fit with the timeframe the tv show is meant to take place in. Do you notice any issues with the mod podge getting sticky during humid months? I've noticed that happens in summertime here in Maine with old art journaling projects, maybe a clear coat spray would seal that in... Hmm, now the brainstorming has commenced.

I am so glad you enjoyed it and I would highly recommend giving it a try! It was a lot of fun and now this one of my most treasured decks. The mod podge does have a bit of a stick, similar to what super glossy cardstock does. I might be tempted to try clear spray next time, however, I'm not sure how that would work with mod podge, so I'd probably use a different glue base if I did that. I'm not sure how the chemicals would react to each other. I do have another deck that I painted on and then sealed with clear coat that works well (not as sticky as the mod podge) but I did a terribly job applying it and it's all lumpy lol. But for shuffling, I do think the clear coat works better than the mod podge (however I still can riffle my altered antique anatomy.) I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

The idea popped into my head the first time I used the deck. I love the illustrations and the theme and I thought it would be so much fun to alter. But honestly, I was afraid to ruin my only copy of the deck because I love using it. When I heard the new edition was coming out, I knew that was the perfect opportunity to try it. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I am so glad you enjoy my videos! Unfortunately there is not much else you can do to fix sticky cardstock. If it's a super glossy deck, I find the stickiness fades a bit over time (lots of time like a year or so of use.) But if it's that new matte "rose petal" finish, I'm not sure if there is anything more to be done. The only thing I've ever heard is the fanning powder but I've never used it myself. I'm sorry I can't be more help. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I think it would work ok with the newer cardstock as well. I've done it with much thicker cardstock before and it works just fine. Just makes for a really chunky deck. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

They are! Everytime I made tea, I set the bags out to dry. For about a month I had a pile of tea bags in a bin on my kitchen counter. Then I opened them up, dumped them or and unfolded them. They have a great texture to them. 🙂
