Love your work. My son passed away recently and I need something that may help me cope with this loss. Creativity has allowed me to “get through” times before and decided to create a spot for myself. After researching I decided I would like to try mixed media and found you and become fascinated with your techniques! I am new at this and need to ask a question-what type of pencil do you use to darken the edges of things? Thank you for your calming energy and kind words as you create.

LorriMarie and Sharron, I have backed up and reread some of these older videos. I am truly sorry you both are, and had been going such a painful time. Nothing like this art to help mend the deep wounds. At a somewhat young age, I too lost my first husband unexpectadly, and yes it does take a long time for the wounds to heal. I so wish I had known about this type of art at that time. I kept "regular" written journals back then, but never wanted to relive the torture in my writing. Again, Life will return back to you just never in the way you wish it could or not always the way you want it to. But, you will see the sunshine, once more.

Its been ten years sense I lost my son Dan is right it till hurts. We all need room to grieve I made myself sick over it for a while but God and art ha given me new life. I am truly sorry there are so many of us in this sad club. But we must all find away to find joy once more .💜to all of you

You are so sweet to reach out to the village; and to reveal yourself. It is so true that hyperfocus in the creative process can be better than any drug at dulling pain. Love that expression, "flat battery". So, true whether physical or emotional. I don't get depression, but I get a flat battery physically! One of my dearest friends is bipolar (friends for over 40 years). We relate when talking about our conditions, mine physical, her's mental, because the pain we feel has very similar correlations even though not from the same sources. I want to add that my friend and I share the fact that our main source of strength is spiritual and it's very good for us, so we share that bond as well. Spirituality is a basic human need. I respect that you recognize that basic need. You weren't preachy sounding. Thank you for your warmth and respect for the dignity of others! XOX

oh my goodness julie....i am so glad that you found 'us'....yes...we have a facebook village too.....Our KZbin Village .....then there are a couple of questions to answer...and then...ta da...into the village you go! it is amazing that so many of battle with the 'dark curtains'....we are sensitive spiritual beings and we must really take good care of ourselves....i use yoga, meditation and art....lots and lots of art!!! i hope that joining me on the table will help ease some of your physical pain too....sometimes the trance that we can find on the art table gives us a moment of relief....know that you are not alone! see you on the table julie.....

i can't wait to do something like this. i was just gifted a small handheld sewing machine. i've only ever used a sewing machine once in my life in high school and i don't remember how to use it. the small one works great, i just need more practice on finishing my seams. but once i get that part down, i'm gonna make something like this for the book i just started!

Fantastic page! She is adorable like a little goddess with her headpiece. I appreciated your addressing being in a funk. Physical or mental pain. As human beings we all experience those times. Thank goodness for art, eh? I find that when I am surrounded by my art supplies and working on something, it takes me "away" for a bit when I am concentrating on my project. wow debbie...what a great question....thank you for bringing that up! i use scissors, x-acto and tearing for my images...my experience is....tearing and x-acto cutting leave a 'rougher' edge that glues down smoother...but sometimes i do the scissor cutting....if i have to...lol! the edge of the tearing and x-acto is a bit beveled so it seals easier...i hope that helps....see you on the table debbie....

Loves it!! Hoping hubby is off work tomorrow cause I wonder if he knows that if he's not too tired he's going to help set up a desk for my sewing machine to finally get in my room sometime this weekend. What absolute fun. I've gotten some fabulous ideas. I was going to buy a 2007 issue of Haute Doll which cost $9.95. Not bad until I got to shipping, $14.95! I said, "No, no,no..." Then I remembered my stash of used children's books and figured I can surely find a sweet girls face there or in one of my Juliette Crane coloring books. LorriMarie! What you said about not stopping watching, not stopping that time we need while being creative, is so true! I suffer with depression, myself. I learned one majorly helpful thing that I keep with me all the time. Erma Bombeck, the late humor columnist, once said her favorite verse from the bible was, "...And, it came to pass..." She added, "Thank goodness! I was afraid it was here to stay!" What ever 'it' was! LOL The funks will pass! They may be last a few days, or, a couple of weeks. But, they always do pass. Knowing that, I just kind of 'go with' my funks. I pamper myself, listen to music that is happy, burn incense, sleep plenty, try to eat right and take long baths, when possible. I come out the other side, usually, a better person! Thank you!!

And I’m starting to be able to rip and tear my Food Network for background colors. I got the reverence of books and magazines from my father. I so love your art. You're an amazing woman, LorriMarie, your level of compassion for the pain of others. It's through your own suffering, I think, that you have developed such empathy. I wonder why it is that so many artists suffer from depression? And then, of course, I think of Frida Kahlo, and how her art helped her transcend the physical paint from that terrible accident. Anyway, my art is the air I breathe, and it does help me find that place where I can escape both physical and emotional pain. Thank you, lovely woman.

Hi LorriMarie! I’m just getting around to watching this video and I love her! I raised three daughters so I can really appreciate the pouty face, maybe now more so than when the girls were small. Your discussion about depression is so true and it’s nice that you addressed it. I’m hopeful that the more people discussing depression, the better educated people will become on how to get through it, address it, and identify it. Your inspiration is greatly appreciated! Hope you had a very happy birthday! I love this collage - she is gorgeous!I can empathize with other villagers who are in physical pain. My upper back is pretty much shot since an accident 30 years ago, and I manage the pain with meds and physiotherapy and some mindfulness. I have the love of my husband and kids to keep me going when it gets too much and, of course, my paper crafts on my better days. And now I get to watch you and learn from you, and feel the love and the warmth from all the other villagers! What more could I ask for :))

LorriMarie Jenkins RAis rheumatoid Arthritis. I’ve become unable to work much more since it has become severe. In the past I was a very active designer as a profession. So my world really revolved around creatives. I miss that sooo much! Recently I’ve been looking for a new creative option since my motor skills and physical ability has diminished quite a bit. I have been going through Chemo and am experiencing Neuropathy in my hands and feet. The pain is Horrible! Watching your videos takes my mind away from the pain! My fine motor skills have been terrible. Simple things are really hard, brushing my teeth, tying my shoes, opening a can of soup. I am unable to work on my Art. 😢 My Hands are not working! 😭 I enjoy watching you do things! It Helps so Much!! 💗 I look forward to getting back to My Joy (Art) 🎉 🥰🙏🥰

i do not seem to have an issue with sticky pages....there is another 'villager' that rubs a wax candle over her pages.....this may answer your question....
