Altered Composition Journal Part 1 | So Easy To Make

This altered composition notebook tutorial is easy to follow and can be done in just a few minutes. After watching this tutorial, you'll be able to create your own altered composition notebooks without any problems! In today's video I will be giving a tutorial on how to alter a composition notebook into a journal. This is so easy to do and can be used for a junk journal, planner, bible journal, gratitude journal or many other things! This is part 1 of 2. Today I will be making the journal front and back cover. I will also be making tags and pocket for my altered composition notebook journal!

So pretty! Here's my foolproof way of attaching the cover paper: after measuring and cutting, place the paper on the cover so that it is perfectly lined up, then use low tack tape to "hinge" the paper to the black spine edge. Now fold the paper back, just like you were turning the page of a book. Put your glue or tape on the cover, remove the release paper from the tape, and simply slap the paper down over the cover. Fast, easy and foolproof!

Next time you do this try lining up your paper on the spine first. Great idea. I already have several journals right now but this is definitely an idea I see myself using in the future. Especially since journals are expensive and I don’t see them going down in price. Love the paper. This would make a nice little craft sale idea. Maybe include a pretty pen. There are inexpensive pen holders you could put along the top so it doesn’t get lost. Really turned out nice. Thanks for showing this! I’ve never made anything like this so I wasn’t sure why you needed it a pocket in a journal. I’m just used to commercial journals so this is new to me. Can you share what it’s for? Thank you!

Fold the paper over the pocket instead of cutting it off. Fold on your cut line and slide it into the pocket.

I always add 1/4 on 4 sides of the cover sheet for the front of these books. Most of them are not square so I don't trust the measurements any more. I get really frustrated after cutting paper to find I am 1/8 or more off at a corner somewhere. So I cover, the use a metal ruler with exacto knife to true it up.

Instead of cutting your papers at an angle to cover your pocket cut it straight and then fold the excess over to the inside and glue it down, or instead of using 1 sheet of paper, use your scraps and collage your pocket, does all that make sense? Lol

You make it to complicated. I've done these and I just cover the whole page then I fold them in and cover the other two pages and do the same. You can see the ones of the pocket is decorated.
