Love your videos. Not sure why you guys are still saying "8 hours of sleep". There's a recent study that shows 7 hours is actually better than 8 for a large group of adults. I changed my sleep from 8 to 7 hours about 6 months ago and started feeling better. "Seven hours of sleep each night is the ideal amount in middle to old age, research suggests."

The cure to combat my active mind has been an app. Calm - specifically sleep stories. No hocus pocus or hypnosis, just someone reading you a story you pick out (and there are LOTS). I paid for my subscription and use it every night (over 1300 times so far). It's rare that I hear the end of the story cause I'm asleep! Think you can still try it for free.

I’ve been sleep deprived ever since I had mono in college….60 years ago! I’ve done a million different diets, had every kind of body work, meditation, yoga, etc etc. even had a sleep study. Bunches of supplements. NOTHING has helped. I’ve had fibromyalgia for about 35 years. Even with sleep aids (which I absolutely cannot go to sleep without) I wake up every 1-3 hours sleep all night…never wake refreshed. I rarely get more than 7 hours sleep a night, often less. Of course I’m fatigued all the time. My best quality sleep is between 4am-noon. I’ve tried for decades to shift my circadian rhythm without success. I’m 82 now so have no hope of things changing significantly if at all. This has negatively impacted my entire life…pretty rotten way to live.

Don’t try to change the time you sleep just as long as you get the hours you need. I finally gave in to my nighttime awake and daytime sleep but get around 6-8 hours of sleep. I have Fibro also and other autoimmune issues so understand. As old as we are we can be on whatever schedule we want so why worry when you sleep? My husband and close friends have adjusted, so can yours.

1:28 There is documentation from a 14th Century French doctor who, when approached by a patient who was trying to get pregnant but couldn't, told her to NOT have sex with her husband at the end of the day before bed. He suggested waiting until they went back to bed for their SECOND SLEEP. Before the modern age, humans had TWO sleeps. They'd routinely sleep for 4 hours, wake up for an hour or two and do anything from chopping wood, light house work, eat, pray, visit friends, have sex, then go back to sleep for another four hours. The doctor in this case stated that there was too much tension upon going to bed and that the first sleep would alleviate that. Now that she and her husband were more relaxed, they woke up, had sex, went back to sleep (SECOND SLEEP) and soon after she became pregnant.

I’m usually in bed by 10:30, wake at 7, however, according to my smart watch I rarely get 5 hrs of sleep!! I’ve struggled with insomnia for yrs. I realize I toss/turn but wonder what I’m supposed to be doing if I’m not actually sleeping? Just read that smart watches can’t really calculate how much time an insomniac person sleeps. A sleep study was suggested, would be more accurate. I’m sure I’m not the only one using a smart watch to see how much sleep they’re getting.
