Alternate Costume Final Smash Ideas for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

The 10.0 update for super smash bros ultimate has just released bringing many brand new features, namely the brand new DLC Character Sephiroth. Along with him he brought a bun of fixes to how final fantasy has been treated in smash previously with new music and spirits. However the most interesting of these changes was giving Cloud's Advent Children Alternate Costumes a new exclusive final smash. There are several character like Mario, the Koopalings, the Miis, and more that I think could benefit from having their own alternate costume exclusive final smash so join me as I discuss some of my ideas for more alternate costume final smash for super smash bros ultimate!

Hey for Dark Meta Knight u could use something related to the mirror world, and galacta can have the tornado, but the attack goes to both sides and get a wind box that causes that the another character gets attacked more easily

Maybe it should be modeled after the neutral specials Flashing mach punch: omega blitz (the current one) Shot put: brawler will throw a giant ball dealing high base knockback with bad scaling Flaming kick ( I think ): functions like omega blitz but has a smaller hitbox with higher base damage and knockback ( stronger than omega blitz but riskier )

One problem I have with these is that many of the new, alt exclusive, Final Smashes that you listed are drastically functionally different. Omnislash version 5 looks very different, but it deals the same amount of damage, has the same rush-forward trigger hit, takes the same amount of time, ect. Realistically, any new Final Smash should functionally be the same throughout all alts, or it newly works the same across all alts. Also, please add an Instakill effect to Link's Ancient Arrow. It wouldn't have to kill at 0%, but it just makes sense as Ancient Arrows cause people to disappear out of existence in Breath of the Wild.

@@ashuto2025 1. Mr Game and Watch comes from Nintendo’s first handhelds and even out dates Mario meaning he’s very important to the company’s history making him and his series Iconic 2. Duck hunt was bundled with Super Mario Bros and is one of the best selling games of all time as a result, so obviously it’s very iconic 3. R.O.B. Was bundled with the NES and allowed Nintendo to market the console differently which is one of the few reasons it sold at all, making R.O.B. Very important to gaming history. Plus he was in Mario kart DS which sold way better than super Mario RPG could dream of so yes, he’s more iconic.

Ok but most of these don't work because the only difference in clouds final smashes are the animations. The damage knockback and the way it's activated (hitting the opponent right on front of you) are the EXACT same. And giving different alts functionally different final smashes would make some alts have an actual advantage over others and not just be an asthetic difference so it just makes no sense in any way And some of these you are changing echo/clone characters which isn't the same as an alt (young link and toon link are different characters but meta Knight and galacta knight are 2 alts for 1 character) (Also sorry for how long this comment is idk if it will take long to read or what)

This video is more so just for fun but if they can change the animation then they could easily change the whole thing as well. Additionally then changing the animation does in fact change how it works in free for all’s as it may be harder/easier to hit people outside of the final smash with it depending on the animation.

I have a concept for Cuphead and vault boys final smash. For Cuphead it could show cuphead handing his soul contact to the devil. and becoming evil Cuphead or demon Cuphead, and then unleash a barrage of the different shots you can get in the game at his opponent. I think Cuphead should have had the liquid special come out of his head for the final smash or any better special from the game, and I think Geno should have had better mii costume like Sans, Cuphead, and Bomber man that came with a Super Mario RPG song track. Cloud’s new fs has a different animation, but absolutely nothing else is changed. I don’t think changing something into a cutscene fs, for example, would be a good idea, since it would technically give alternate costumes an advantage over other costumes, which should not be the case.

Actually, I would just do colour swaps and other magikoopas that have appeared in spin offs, not to mention crafted or wooly alt because, you know, Yoshi franchise. The colour swaps could be derived from the multi coloured clones he produces in the Mario and Luigi series.

Some variations of these ideas, having in mind that Cloud's alt. ult functions the same way as the original, can be: -The Mario Maker one can use the hammer to punch away every single enemy (not everyone has to be different) and push them away. If it's neccesary, instead of enemies, it can only be some fire flowers to have still the flames effect. -When punching an opponent with the piston, the Zombie can send it to a house where instead of creepers, there are just zombies who are pressing a pressure plate who denotates the TNT, and the Enderman just sends it to the End where instead of TNT, the Ender Dragon just does what it does. -Even if I ask to have Meta Knight actually using his Hal Abarda and/or his Mach Tornado for his ultimate, with his standart ult the Galacta Knight costume can replicate the moves, but a little bit faster just for in the end, instead of dealing just the final blow, he actually can use his Galacta Knight entrance that looks like he's already cutting the air, and/or his circle laser; not his most powerful attack, but one of the most iconic ones he has. -Dark Meta Knight can actually be the same one, but using the Amazing Mirror to call either Meta Knight or Shadow Kirby in a sword form, in order to copy the same moves as Dark Meta Knight, but in the other side, as if they're "mirrored". On the final blow, Meta Knight or Shadow Kirby can just return to the Amazing Mirror while Dark Meta Knight finish the job. -For the echo fighters I don't have much to say. Daisy can just do the same thing, but as if it actually was a Mario Party reward for gaining a minigame, and Young Link's idea can be more useful for the Link's Fierce Deity costume instead (making it more sense than just shooting a light arrow when Fierce Deity can just throw a slice). -I won't get into detail with Mii costumes, since every single one of them that is even slightly recognizable from other franchise has the same possibilities. -Joker one is actually... Pretty accurate and reminiscent to the game. No matter what costume you have, on the All Out Attack you'll return to the default one... Although it would be hilarious if Joker actually posed like Crow/The Pancake guy. -The Koopalings ones could have two variants from the start. Either call Bowser Jr. to make the Shadow Mario thing (just like Robin calling Chrom, but letting Bowser Jr. do all the job), or just make the same thing Bowser Jr. does, but with their own elements from their respective fights (for a quick example, Ludwig using magic to make the X cross).

As a Kirby lore researcher: Dark Meta Knight: Summons the Dimensional Mirror in front of him to trap players in (similar to Simon's/Richter's start up.) DMK then flies inside the mirror where it takes them to the battleground where DMK is fought in the Amazing Mirror game. DMK then splits himself up to 7 dark copies of himself then starts slashing around the battleground like MK's current FS. After which the opponent, fazed, DMK's dark copies all reunite into his true self then he does one final slash which sends the opponent to a magic mirror which then shatters upon impact as the opponent is launched in, launching them away as the FS ends. Galacta Knight can have the same start up but this time he rips through reality to open a portal to Another Dimension. After which he flies in, then Galacta Knight transforms to his Aeon Hero form. He then rises his lance which then many Heart Needles appear, then they rain down stabbing the opponent. The final hit will have GK point his lance at the opponent as it charges up and fires a big laser at them, launching them away as the FS ends and GK goes back to his normal form.

A good final smash for Dark Meta Knight would be this: He would summon the mirror from Kirby and the amazing mirror that acts like a black hole, pulling in everyone that is too close. Then the mirror will keep the opponents inside it while Dark Meta Knight keeps slashing it until it breaks and launches the opponents away

For Geno, the final smash should be Geno Flash, where he transforms into a cannon and shoots a blast of energy in shape of a sun. In Smash, I think it would be cool if he travels to the background and shoots the screen with the blast creating an explosion that gets bigger and bigger.

There were some cool ideas but there are a few problems, Cloud’s alternate final smash is just a alternate animation not a different actually different final smash (at least not that I’ve noticed). There’s also the fact that transformation final smashes no longer exist and the controllable final smashes are pretty limited.

My idea for a mario final smash is that he smacks a hammer down (from most mario and luigi rpgs) that has a little damage part that moves along the floor. If it hits, it gets sent to a cutscene where mario and loads of enemies (such as goombas, koopas bullet bills etc) and they all attack him. Then mario comes and eats a mega mushroom which makes him grow. He throws the player into the air, and when they land, mario jumps up and ground pounds onto the enemy.

Here are my suggestions for costume-exclusive Final Smashes. Crafted World Yoshi: Dashes forward and transports anyone caught in Crafted World Yoshi’s path into a cardboard house. The house gets pulverized by a Go-Go Yoshi. Pikachu Libre: Gigavolt Havoc done in the same fashion as Incineroar’s Max Malicious Moonsault. Cuphead Mii Costume: Energy Beam. It works just like Full Blast, but stronger while only being able to fire horizontally. Geno Mii Costume: Geno Flash. Summons a large blue cannon that fires an energy ball that produces a massive explosion shortly afterwards.

To me, Dark Meta Knight's final smash shold be like this: he uses his sword and if hits will happen a cutscene, DMK will lock the enemie in the mirror. Then, do a final attack destroying the mirror

The people have spoken, this idea will never work. So here's a new challenge for you: can you come up with new final smash costumes that actually would activate the same, have the same hitboxes and last the same amount of time? Cinematic final smashes can be whatever you want, though.

By giving Alternate Costumes Final Smashes that function differently from their regular version, you are just turning them into Echo Fighters. Costumes are meant to be a way for everyone to play the exact same character. This makes certain ones higher or lower in tier, and goes completely against what the game is trying to do. Cloud's new Final Smash is functionally the exact same as his regular one, it just looks a little different. There are plenty of options without removing the basic effects of the Final Smash as-is. What if Builder Mario sends two giant Angry Suns, and Wedding Mario, two Podoboos? What is Zombie lures the player in a cave filled with Zombies instead of a house filled with TNT? What if Dark Meta Knight teleports around the player through Mirrors? Tons of ideas easily present themselves that would completely work in-game without changing any functions. EDIT: Also, Final Smashes that summon foes or transform the character but still leave them as a fighter were phased out (thank Arceus) because they interrupted play for everyone else and ruined the flow of the game. Adding them back in would hurt the game overall and go against what Sakurai has been claiming about Final Smashes in Ultimate right from the game's original E3 Direct.

The problem with those ideas is that in cloud's final smash only change the looks. The ideas that apear in this videos would change the gameplay. PD: inkling can have a final smash that change the weapon he uses now ( I don't know how it's called in english) for the inkray that will work the same but will have more sense in splatoon 2 based costumes.

It is stupid to talk about Geno's relevance. Of course he is irrelevant but we want him because we actually find him really cool and would want to play as him. You know, not like people wanting a character only because he is from a big title, no matter how fun it would be to play as him or how much you like the character outside of his game. I'm looking at you Crash people. The number of time I heard people saying " oh yeah I would personally prefer spyro because he is cooler and won't have a spining based mooveset but I think Crash is more iconic". One thise is not true, spyro is more iconic for newer generations because he actually didn't stop existing in 2008 but became a major character in skylanders and two, even if it was true, why don't you ask the character you would actually want to play as, the character you prefer ? Sakurai showed he could put any character in smash, why always asking the same twenty characters you don't even really want ? I want Decidueye and geno and I don't care about how relevent they are, I want to make them relevent. Because there are stupid people creating the stupid rule that the new dlc pokemon should be gen 8 despite gen 8 pokemon being bad, redundant and not iconic. Seriously if you don't want to show your tastes and just say what people say online, just shut up and give actual fans the visibility they need !

I feel like Daisys final smash should be a refrence to that one cutsence in MP3's story mode. Theirs a small slap attack Daisy does it has a very small hitbox and kinda hard to land but if you do she slaps the oppoent into the background immediately losing a stock. You may think its op for it to immediately lose a stock even for a final smash however thats why i made it hard to hit. I still like your idea of Chance time however both our ideas are refrences to Mario Party.

Ok lemme do some ideas since it's supposed to be a visual change and not a actuall change 1. Dark meta knight could do the same activation but instead of teleporting around them he could put mirrors around them and make a big version of his sword emerge from them like his attack from star allies 2. For galacta knight he could do the same activation and do a barrage of lasers and sword attack and for the final hit he could do a giant slash like he did in rorobot 3. For kirbys dark skin he could summon a giant version of meta knights sword instead of the normal mega sword 4. (This one is more of a joke) for Mario's purple alt instead of fire he could WAHH! 5. For links deity skin instead of shooting the bow he could send forward a projectile of some sorts with the fierce deity sword 6. For little mac's hologram alts he could have different visual effects that fit the game hes from like the change of the sound effects of the neutral b for the hologram skins

11:26 about Joker you can do one that there's a slightly chance of him not use is normal smash that is an All-Out Attack from Persona 5, but instead he can do a Showtime Attack that is exclusive to Persona 5 Royal or even (Persona 5 Final spoilers) he could summon Arsene evolved form that is Satanel and fire a Seven Sins Bullet (this could happen if you are fighting any villains like Bowser, Ganondorf and Sephitot). Also we need a new Persona 5 character I would like to se Queen (Makoto Nijima) or Violet (Sumire[Kasumi]), since other companies and games like AFK arena are realising these characters.

I feel like it'd be cool to have functionally identical final smashes that nevertheless visually spice things up. So some thoughts I had were builder Mario instead of shooting fire uses pixalized builder marios with hammers, Pika libre uses flying press and while it works identically she is mostly just moving back and forth, young link uses triforce slash but as fierce deity link firing blade beams with each slash, and as you said Daisy's more inflicts a random status effect instead of just sleep. Or if they'd prefer just one, stunned seems fitting for her.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Joker's final smash isn't changing any time soon. In Persona 5, when you end a fight with an All-Out Attack initiated by Joker while wearing a costume other than the Thief Suit, the exact same thing happens. Sam e with all the other Thieves.

For galacta knight there could be an activation box of butterflies that surround you which then puts the opponent in a cutscene where galacta knight turns into morpho knight and throws a flurry of attacks before launching the opponent (This is based off star allies)

I have a similar idea for an Odyssey style Final Smash for Mario. The start animation is a run up hit like Yoshi or Marth where Mario capture a taxi to ram the opponent. Then a cutscene play where a few captures happen from each side of the screen. First Chargin' Chuck, then Chain Chomp, then Knucklotec's Knuckle, and finally the T-rex. After the opponent gets hit by the T-rex, Mario comes out of the capture to do the most hype forward aerial in the game with a close up of him hitting the foe like when you k.o hit someone at the last stock.

That “lightning tornado” is actually a thing shared across all the knights in the Kirby series called Mach Tornado. An attack more associated with Dark Meta Knight would be the giant blades attack (I can’t remember what it’s actually called) from Triple Deluxe and Star Allies.. For dark meta knight, i have a better idea, a mirror appear and sent every foes nearby do the mirror world from kirby and the amazing mirror (dark meta knight's first appearence) then he summon dark mind (a giant eye of fire * *the lord of rings flashbacks* *) that explode on every opponent that got into the final smash, it's a bit like the belmonts's final smashs
