i don't have a clipboard, but i do have a binder, a binder clip and washi tape, and what i tend to do is lay the strings out in order, washi tape them down, and then put the binder clip over the washitape at the start of the strings for the knots. it effectively stays in place for me.

Technically yes and no? The pattern calls for each string to be 1 color, but then there is one color that requires 2 strings for it. You could potentially order your strings so that your 5 colors repeat twice, but you still need 1 color to have 2 strings.

4 isn't a multiple of 10 so I can't use 10 strings to get 3 stripes, right? I would have to use 12?

Savannah Vidal You use 10 strings to have 3 stripes because you use the amount of strings that adds up to a multiple of 3 + 1 extra string (which is what the pattern shows). You can use 12 strings if you wanted to and you could still have 3 stripes.

i wanted to try this pattern when i saw a post on instagram, but i messed up knots and then i couldn't figure out how to move on. Just a question, i cut 9 strands as pattern showed, what should be the line? 3-3-2 or reverse or what else? 🙄

If you want to use 9 strings you could actually follow it as 3-2-3 and still get the same result with a slightly different look. Glad you got it figured out in the end, though!

this pattern isnt working for me, the middle is messed up. does it start looking better the more rows i do?

You may just need tighter tension so that the knots are lining up and looking more clean

I am struggling with getting my rows close enough together... something about the middle section is making it so there is too much string between the knots. Am I not pulling tight enough? Too tight?

If you are talking about gapping, then it sounds like you might not be pulling your strings tight enough- but you also don’t want to pull SUPER tight. It takes a lot of practice but when you make the first knot, make sure you have good tension and in the sort of “spot” you want it in before finishing the knot completely. :)

Pure Comfusion Hopefully I understood this right so that I could answer your question, but when you get to the middle you use the strings showing up in the middle to make backward knots onto the color that is getting carried from left to right. This bracelet is like the candy stripe, but you change up the knot in the middle to bring out the colors of the middle strands.
