The plot can make sense, imagine if the Siths become obsessed with origin of the Force then they command Vader to patrol outer galaxies to explore some high concentration of force, then he found Melkor/Sauron in middle-earth (planet), he conclude that Sauron and other Ainur are basically the living force, and also found way to enchant and store force in object (like in the ring).

The Barad-Dur is not Sauron himself as it is - Barad-Dur is simply part of him, like a tool or an eye, which can be changed on some new eye. Basically, by taking the ring, Darth Vader would keep Sauron more alive than anyone else.

I understand that the author's goal was to destroy the tower, only I don't remember in Star Wars that spaceships flew to the planets so close at hyperlight speed. Usually we have always observed such an effect in space, but it still looks very cool and funny.

Sauron is patient, you may destroy his body but eventually he'll return, whereas Vader is merely a corrupted man in a life suit. He would fall to the Ring faster than Isildur. And if you think a power hungry Sith with a heart of darkness would have the strength to resist such a talisman, to think of destroying it or heck ever knowing of how to destroy it then you are simply mad. Vader would beat Sauron in a physical fight yes, but would then fall to the temptations of the Ring. He would take it and try and use it to overthrow Palpatine.

So, we know that Eru Illuvatar created the universe of Ea using something called the Flame Imperishable, which is the ultimate material of creation and also the source of Eru's power, if you ask me the Flame Imperishable sounds a lot like the Cosmic Force. Eru himself could be seen as an immensely powerful force entity, possibly a personification of the Cosmic Force itself even. Likewise, the Valar could be embodiments of the Living Force. Perhaps some tinkering around with the Force opened up a portal from the Star Wars universe to Ea, and Sidious immediately felt Ea was an incredibly powerful realm in the Force, possibly being near the source of the Force itself (Flame Imperishable), and in the process he learned of the Ring and sent Vader to go and take it. Also, I get what people are trying to say here when commenting about this, but honestly I don't find Sauron getting pwned by an ISD to be that hard to believe. Sauron was way past his peak and was incredibly weak by the time of LOTR, by that point he needed armies to defend himself, he was so weak that after the destruction of the ring his spirit just evaporated and whatever fragments were left of him were just scattered out in the void. I mean yeah he probably survived Barad-dûr getting destroyed, but in his weakened state he can't really do much about a determined person who is experienced with dark powers and commands forces far more technologically advanced than his taking the Ring in the moment. Sidious also is likely strong and evil enough to be able to bend the Ring to his own will (yes, it is possible according to Tolkien's notes that someone evil, dark, and strong enough can bend the One Ring to their own will rather than Sauron's, and Sidious would be that person). Sauron's chance of coming out on top here is if he manages to manipulate Vader before he delivers the Ring to Sidious, and given how weak-minded and conflicted Vader is it's something I can very much see happening. (Of course I'm ignoring Rick at the end, when including Rick being involved in this then the end possibilities get a lot more whack).

Or, arguably, Eru Illuvatar didn't create the universe. He was a powerful force user (probably a Sith) who came to Arda and, using a mix of the Force and his technology, was mistaken for a god. As Clarke pointed out, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Well, this is amazing! Just the nerf of Sauron :(, poor him. Why? Because the tower of Sauron would be as tall as a destroyer is long, it would go down but the destroyer with it. Sauron would not die with the tower. The only way to kill him is by destroying the ring, the tower just allow him to partially manifest his spirit, but he is literally everywhere. Not even with the force they could fight him off. Sauron made the One ring to act as Litch-like phylactery, the One is like the Horcruxes in Harry Potter. The rings also are a sender (the One ring), and receivers (the many). He set a bigger portion of his power/soul into the One ring, this to avoid the diminishing of his powers each time he gets destroyed, he would have to consume a portion of his power permanently to resurrect himself physically. This is a thing the original spirits and Valars discovered at their expenses, when they first decided to manifest themselves in bodies that was the price, a vulnerability of a kind. Sauron got destroyed once at his fortress during Luthien travels, by the stupid dog, then at Numenor undercover by taking the island and everybody with him, at that point he decided to forge the Rings before losing more, lastly by Isildur who rolled a crit but at that point he had the One so literally lost nothing of his powers, just the need to get his spirit partially manifested and come into contact with the ring.

He can leave whenever he wants and in fact, there is no scenario where Sauron would even be injured by such an impact to the tower. Second, the tower itself was bound to the ring and Sauron and may indeed be "star destroyer proof" especially as even Super s Star Destroyers like The Executor (Vader's flagship) suffer significant damage from objects far less durable than Barad Dur like asteroids.

I believe that the sith would not stand a chance against sauron. their only chance to defeat him would be the ring. but they would not destroy it but be arrogant enough to use it. they would just give sauron the tools to conquer the galaxy. with a deathstar, or maybe even just a star destroyer, sauron could destroy mount doom and with the mountain the only place where the ring could be destroyed.

@@Warrorar you're an example fo someone who thinks it's as simple as 'never tried' there is tons of reasons why, one of them being that you are way too close to the mass shadow of the object (the planet), and will break apart apon attempting to enter hyperspace, just to end up being dust in it.

Even though it is mathematically impossible to enter the correct coordinates, Han Solo was the first one who ever managed to do it, shortly after the battle of yavin. In addition to that, there is no perfect vacuum in a planets atmosphere, so the masses would attract each other too much, especially considering that star destroyers are that huge (Han did it with the falcon, which is much smaller obviously) which would lead to a collision. And I think I heard of a law of physics in universe that forbids ships to jump into hyperspace from a planet's atmosphere, but can't remember where that was said or written. (this law was broken by disney stuff before so idk haha) but thats a whole other topic as well

@@xKace Entering and exiting hyperspace requires an absence of gravity, since the ship uses the gravity of Hyperspace to pull itself into it. That's why you can't jump from a planet, and why jumping into a planet's gravity is extremely difficult and dangerous. This was first written in 'Onslaught at Arda', with the introduction of the Interdictor-class Star Destroyer - the Interdictor can generate a planet's worth of gravity around it, sucking anything that tries to move around them in hyperspace back into real space and preventing things in realspace from safely jumping to hyperspace.

As cool as this looks, Barad-dûr was not just some simple spooky tower. It was infested and held together by the dark powers of Sauron and the his servants. It was essentially the greatest constructed Fortress of the third age. Also I don’t think a star destroyer can enter that low to a planets atmosphere, if it could then why hasn’t it been done in previous source materials.

The universe where Luke Skywalker takes the One Ring to Mustafar, is unable to drop it, but has his hand cut off by Darth Vader in a duel over the Crack of Doom (Vader does not need his eyes to see and just finds him through the Force), thus destroying the Ring and defeating... IDK, Abeloth or something. In this universe, Aragorn inherits the Dagger of Mortis (despite its cool factor the Dark Saber is not currently canonically able to kill Celestials).
