Great video! My Filipina wife and I live on a farm about 12 miles outside Dipolog City on the island of Mindanao. Have you ever been to Dipolog City? It's about a three hour ferry ride south from Dumagete. It is a nice place here, but the beaches are not so great. Bayawan City sounds like a very nice and relaxing place to visit just to get away from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the wonders and the serenity of Mother Nature for awhile.

Hi Gio - I love the style of video you do and showing us the different places to visit. You mention travel and medical insurance, but don't explain or identify the type of medical services available in the area. Clearly for near retirees that is a significant consideration. Could you please consider this in future videos. Thanks!

@@kramsenoj1 There is a District Hospital in Bayawan that is very well organized and very clean. For major medical problems they ship the patient to Dumaguete which is 100 kilometers (62 miles) away. There is no private hospital currently in Bayawan, although one has been trying to get organized since 2017. There are plenty of pharmacies in Bayawan, as in every other city in the Philippines.

Thanks so much Gio. I've just subbed. I've been in a two year online relationship with a girl who's family live in Bayawan. She's 30 and I'm 55. I've traveled a lot to Thailand, India, the Middle East, Europe etc since I was 21. I like your advice about not getting picked up at the airport and scooped up and taken back home. She wants to meet me at the airport in Manila, stay a couple of days and then fly back to Bayawan. I was thinking of staying at a hotel near her place. I'm starting to question this as it is only one month away now. Any other advice? She is super keen and I think with my head (not just my heart). Thanks for sharing!

Nice huge boardwalk with nothing there. Still it is nice and a much cleaner view over Duma. The fishing fleet is huge there with lots of fresh fish. The problem would be shopping and resturants. I would bet the real estate prices are pretty low.

Dumaguete is evidently only moderately inspiring, but this is sadly a pale shadow. Go elsewhere folks.

Mandangang umaga. Do you know anyone who like to video chat to exchange either Spanish or English for Tagalog? If so, I would love to learn a third language.
