i live in Holland too and it's kinda funny how people in america take the car or bus while we, the dutch people, go to school and work on our bikes...that doesn't mean everybody is riding a bike here; i guess 55% take the car, train or bus but we sure use our bike more....

your an inspiration to all Stana and Seamus. I've got most of my year in Australia,Perth walking to and from school basically everyday and all my friends walk to each others house instead of hoping in the car. so thankyou for this:)

Once I saw a documentry about the biking in the Netherlands. It's true. Biking is really easy to do there because of the flat land, and it has become a big part of the country and it's transportation. There are cycling paths, lots of bike racks, no law stating that helmets are necessary, etc. I wish that cycling was a bigger thing in Canada and the US. Yes, it is impossible in our day to be without cars.But I KNOW that some of the distances people use cars for can DEFINATELY be covered by bikes.

my family doesn't have a car, and go to school by bus and if the weather is good i walk home, cuz we live in really small city and country

are there so little people who ride there bike in america. i live in holland and i have to go to school with my bike 2 hours a day. 1 hour to school 1 hour back to home. it's refreshing and i love it but in winters :S i never take the bus it's mostly because i hate the bus and i get sick in it. Take the bike it's great and good for your health! :D

If I lived in LA I would bike everywhere. It's not like NZ where you basically have to bike over mountains to get places 20 minutes away

here in Greece, in Athens, is a little bit difficult to ride a bike to your work because the streets aren't safe and the drivers are also dangerous. otherwise it would be great, especially with the crisis. I see people riding their bikes and I always say "soooo risky!!!"

i used to complain about catching public transport and walking all the time, now i prefer it...i normally go 6 days a week car free.

@ResolutionOfMotorrad i heard of it :P i'm from holland so it's next to germany. in the summer it's also full of bicycles but in winter i'm as good as the only one :P

I gave up my car for one lifetime. Occasionally I will rent a vehicle for special occasions, weddings and such. I can otherwise walk most everywhere I need to be.
